FRISCO, Tex. (ChurchMilitant.com) - More and more black leaders and related organizations are recognizing the anti-life racism that surrounds abortion in America.

More than 100 African American elected officials, pastors and attorneys this week signed and submitted a letter to the acting president of Planned Parenthood. Their message is twofold: "Confront the systemic racism of America's abortion practices" and renounce the organization's founder, Margaret Sanger, for her racist writings.

Executive director of the Human Coalition Action (HCA), Rev. Dean Nelson, explained the purpose of the letter.

"This effort demonstrates the outrage among the black community that we have been strategically and consistently targeted by the abortion industry ever since the practice was legalized almost 50 years ago," he remarked.

The letter, coordinated by HCA, was written to the attention of acting president of Planned Parenthood, Alexis McGill-Johnson. It laid out statistics, one of which is that even though only 13% of the country's female population is back, 36% of abortions in the United States are performed on black women:

Black women are five times more likely than white women to receive an abortion. In some cities, like New York, more black children are aborted every year than are born alive. This is no accident ... 79% of Planned Parenthood's surgical abortion facilities are located in or near communities of color.

The black leaders also stressed that the anti-life Planned Parenthood was made in its founder's image. Racism and eugenics are laced throughout her writings.

"While Planned Parenthood of Greater New York has disavowed Sanger's eugenic views, Planned Parenthood national has remained silent," the letter asserted. "Margaret Sanger wanted to use abortion and contraception to cull minority populations."

The letter zeroes in on the hypocrisy of Planned Parenthood in the midst of the nation's recent riots and protesting.

"Since the tragic killing of George Floyd, Planned Parenthood has openly voiced its support of Black Lives Matter and its commitment to combating racism in all its forms," it propounded. "Ms. Johnson, your words about Black Lives Matter ring hollow while your organization perpetuates this racist legacy."

Margaret Sanger wanted to use abortion and contraception to cull minority populations.

"This massive inequity and the disproportionate harm it does to black Americans is fully in keeping with the racist, eugenicist vision of your organization's founder," the letter charged.

Black political leaders who signed the letter include political strategist Justin Giboney, Sen. Katrina Jackson, D-La., Rep. James White, R-Tex., Rep. Mack Jackson, D-Ga., and Indiana's attorney general Curtis Hill. Outside the world of politics, pro-life activists Benjamin Watson and Alveda King also signed the letter. Watson is a recently retired NFL football player and King is a surviving niece of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

In addition to this, billboards have been popping up around the country, drawing attention to the hypocrisy of any Black Lives Matter message that doesn't include the most vulnerable black lives of all. The slogan "Black Preborn Lives Matter" has been donning billboards lately in several cities around the nation.

The billboards also include the message, "Planned Parenthood aborts 360 Blacks every day. Help us."

Leading this awareness campaign along with HCA are Students for Life of America, Students for Life Action and the Frederick Douglass Foundation.

The billboards are now up in Philadelphia, Atlanta, Detroit, Phoenix and Charlotte, according to these pro-life groups. They expect to add more in other cities across the country in the coming weeks.

Faithful Catholics are hoping the uncovering of hypocrisy related to black lives will wake people up to the ultimate discrimination, which is abortion itself. This includes babies of any race, nationality, creed, sex or developmental disability.
