GREENVILLE, S.C., May 11, 2015 ( – Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal took major shots at 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton during the Citizens United Freedom Summit Saturday over her past remarks saying people should change their religious beliefs to accommodate “reproductive rights.”

At the Women in the World conference in New York City on April 23, Clinton said “deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed” if women were to get safe access to “reproductive care.”

The Roman Catholic governor called Clinton's comments “preposterous and offensive,” saying they give hints of a totalitarian future on religious liberty.

And by the way the speech in this conference where she said those of us who are pro-life should need to have our religious beliefs changed. She didn’t say how. What does it mean? Re-education camps? She proposed to have our religious beliefs changed.

Jindal then slammed Hillary Clinton for misunderstanding “religious freedom,” saying beliefs shouldn't have to change because she feels like it.

My religious beliefs aren’t between me and Hillary Clinton. They’re between me and God. I’m not going to change them simply because she doesn’t like them. She doesn’t seem to understand the First Amendment fundamental rights that we are provided. And one of those foundational rights is religious liberty.
