The Windy City cardinal and its mayor were engaged in a "you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours" email exchange at the height of the COVID hysteria.

Church Militant's Martina Moyski tells us more about recently uncovered emails published by the Chicago Sun-Times showing where the cardinal's faith really lies.

Newly obtained emails show Chicago's cardinal, Blase Cupich, advised the city's mayor about making her COVID lockdown messaging more palatable to Catholics.

Cdl. Blase Cupich: "We can't be naive about the fact that people are afraid and expect that people are going to be busting down our doors to get in Church."

The cardinal guided the lesbian Lori Lightfoot on how best to frame a letter she would send to people of faith on May 14, 2020, justifying church closures.

The prelate first heaped praise on the mayor, calling her draft "compelling and moving" and saying her "own witness is so strong."

Cupich: "There should never be a time in a moment in which we judge others in their faith journey."

He commended her for downplaying the spiritual damage of canceling Mass and denying access to the Holy Eucharist — the source and summit of the Catholic faith.

The unpopular Cupich wrote, "I think the gospel quote from Matthew sufficiently does the job," referring to Lightfoot's use of a gospel quote ("Where two or more are gathered in My name, there also will I be").

Hecklers: "Shame. Shame. Shame."

As previously reported, messages between Cupich and Illinois governor J.B. Pritzker also show the same bootlicking and devotion to COVID restrictions.

Cupich: "We're not going to go down a rabbit hole on this."

The faithful are asking — given Cupich's anti-Catholic alliances — what does he really believe?

Social media lit up with negative reactions to the news of Cupich's coordinating COVID messaging with Lightfoot. One person tweeted, "When the Church is in cahoots with Caesar, Caesar always wins. Shameful. How will Chicago Catholics respond?"
