The blowback is furious over one bishop's call for "unity at any price," even at the expense of truth. Yet that was the theme of Sunday's address from a Wisconsin bishop about his dismissal of Fr. James Altman. Church Militant's Martina Moyski has more.

Fr. Richard Heilman: "Some bishops are trying to be in league with the powers that be. I've been calling them a tyranny."

La Crosse bishop William Callahan sent Msgr. William Hundt to deliver his message to parishioners at St. James the Less church.

Priest speaking for Callahan: "Instead of working for all souls, the actions and words of Fr. Altman have caused great division within the parish ... It is important ... not to cause further division and scandal ... ."

A priest-friend of Fr. Altman weighed in: "Father Altman, despite being decried by his bishop Callahan as 'divisive,' has been the first good priest in a generation since Fulton Sheen to unite and solidify the American Catholic Church — against the pro-abortion lobby, against the LGBT evil."

Altman issued his own statement Friday, noting the irony of the bishop dismissing him while the episcopacy fails to call out child-molester priests.

Altman added: "I can hardly wait to finish my book, Lies the Bishops Told Us."

The accusations of divisiveness leveled at Fr. Altman are turning into a powerful source of unity among faithful Catholics all over the world.

If you have joined the Catholic faith, returned to the Catholic faith or have been uplifted and strengthened by Fr. Altman's homilies or visits, please write to Fr. Altman. Every letter is being copied to his canon lawyer to help his case in Rome.
