ST. LOUIS (ChurchMilitant.com) - St. Louis Catholics are in a tug-of-war with Church authorities over the abortion-tainted COVID vaccine.
Over the weekend, a headline in the local archdiocesan paper told Catholics: "Through education and other efforts, the Church can counter vaccine resistance."
Meanwhile, across town, it was standing-room-only for those Catholic resisters the Church wants to suppress.
A group of faithful Catholics called Credo of the Catholic Laity hosted a live panel discussion featuring two experts warning against the so-called COVID vaccine — Dr. Alan Moy, president of the John Paul II Medical Research Institute and Sarah Quale, president of the pro-life group Personhood Alliance Education.
Dr. Moy launched his pro-life research institute to compete in the biotech sector, which he says is unaccountably devoted to embryonic stem cell research even though alternatives are available.
Quale says the demand for new cell lines is on the horizon.
Sarah Quale: "These older cell lines ... they are now ... their shelf life is up. And so we have these new cell lines like the Wavax II cell line in China. ... We have these new abortions, creating new cell lines."
Both experts agree Catholic Church leaders are making the uphill battle even steeper.
Dr. Alan Moy: "For decades, the Catholic Church's position has not created a solution for religious consumers. We don't have an ethical treatment for a variety of different medicines that are tainted with aborted fetal cells."
While concerned Catholics find themselves at odds with various Church officials over the morality of the jab, one unintended benefit has been to raise awareness of the inhumane use of embryonic stem cells, a practice that's been going on for years.
