The United Nations' founding documents task the international organization with safeguarding human rights around the world. Time and again, the United Nations fails to protect the vulnerable, owing to passivity from its leading members. Church Militant's Trey Blanton shows how communist China bullies the world.

Western democracies, represented by Canada, attempted Wednesday to bring China to heel over the many documented cases of systemic rape, sterilization and forced labor of Uighur Muslims. China's delegate, however, came prepared to launch a preemptive strike.

Chinese diplomat Jiang Duan said, "We are deeply concerned about discrimination against migrants in Canada and inhumane treatment often in Canadian detention centers. And systemic racial discrimination, xenophobia, Islamophobia, within Canada."

Canada's ambassador was unequal to the task, saying, "Credible reports indicate that over a million people have been arbitrarily detained in Xinjiang and that there's widespread surveillance disproportionately targeting Uighurs and members of other minorities and restrictions on fundamental freedoms in Uighur culture."

Rather than attack China's known horrific abuses, the democracies played defense by claiming Canada's Prime Minister Trudeau has previously apologized for indigenous discrimination. Defending against such leftist talking points weakened Canada's position by placing the West's so-called Islamophobia on the same moral level as China's genocide.

The Belorussian ambassador also weighed in on China's side, declaring, "We oppose politicization of  human rights and double standards. We also oppose unfounded allegations against China out of political motivation and based on disinformation and interference in China's internal affairs."

Belarus, also under investigation for human rights abuses, joins Muslim nations financially beholden to China in defending the communist regime. Secular international bodies fail because they lack Christian truth and quibble before aggression.

China is using the same strategy as Germany under Hitler. Attack and let your enemy's fear paralyze any response.
