DETROIT (ChurchMilitant.com) - Church Militant spoke with Catholic therapist Dr. Peter Kleponis about his upcoming men's intensive workshop on pornography addiction.

"It's three and a half days of intensive work," Dr. Kleponis told Church Militant. "The goal here is to achieve in three and half days what could take three or four months of counseling to do."

The workshop starts September 26 and will go through September 29. Men will leave the workshop with their own personal plan of recovery so that when they leave they know what to do to get healthy and free themselves from addiction.

The aim of the workshop is to get beneath the surface to treat the deep emotional and psychological wounds that lead to pornography use, and will address all three aspects of the human person.

"It's physical, mental and emotional," Dr. Kleponis explained. "And the reality is that pornography use is really a symptom."

According to the marriage therapist, secular programs for porn addiction recovery can be dangerous. "We have to ask the question what is healthy sexuality? What is healthy intimacy?" he asked. "In order to answer this we have to go back and ask how are we human beings designed to be sexual? What is God's plan for human sexuality? A secular program cannot answer that question."

Dr. Kleponis offered a general comment to men who are struggling with porn addiction and who will not be able to make it to the workshop. "You need to find a good therapist who is trained to treat sexual addiction," he counseled. "Don't think you can do it on your own; don't think you can create your own recovery program. You can't. You need to talk to someone who is an expert in it."

Author of the first Catholic-based book on porn addiction, Dr. Kleponis offers detailed advice on how to break free from porn addition at his website, IntegrityRestored.com
