After the city of Baltimore failed to respond to St. Michael's Media's Aug. 30 demand letter, this apostolate is following through on its promise to sue. In addition to a complaint filed in federal court Monday accusing the city of violating this apostolate's First Amendment rights to freedom of speech, assembly and religion, an emergency motion was filed demanding that the city be forced to reinstate our Bishops: Enough Is Enough prayer rally, scheduled for Nov. 16 at the MECU Pavilion. The pavilion is directly across from the Baltimore Marriot Waterfront Hotel, where the U.S. bishops are holding their annual meeting, and where Church Militant held the same rally in 2018 — without incident.
We believe the city — through City Solicitor James Shea, a Catholic who represents the U.S. bishops — illegally canceled the rally as a favor to the bishops, his paying clients.
