Chicago's lesbian Mayor, Lori Lightfoot, and homosexualist cardinal Blase Cupich are ignoring the city's soaring murder rate. The 105 murders reported this July more than double the murders in July 2019 — the biggest jump of any month this year — with shootings also increasing by 75%.
Among the shooting victims was a 10-month-old infant, now in critical condition, who was shot on Chicago's Bishop Ford Expressway. Although the Democrat mayor did speak against the killings earlier in the month (saying, "I pray that you will find your humanity, that you will think about the sanctity of life"), she spent more time fighting President Trump's orders to send federal agents into the city to help curb the violence.
Lori Lightfoot: "I'll be darned if I'm going to let anybody, even if their name is Mr. President, bring those kinds of troops to our city."
She only hesitantly approved of Trump's orders — after protestors gathered in front of her home.
Lori Lightfoot: "What we will be getting are some additional resources from the FBI, the DEA and the ATF."
Cardinal Cupich has had nothing to say on the murders this month either, though he did make time to tweet about protecting illegal aliens: "I stand with my brother bishops in opposing proposed federal rules that would burden asylum-seekers."
While Chicago sees dozens of shootings every weekend and droves of residents fleeing the city limits, both the mayor and the cardinal are giving the faithful little reason to remain in the Windy City.
