HOUSTON (ChurchMilitant.com) - The man responsible for exposing Planned Parenthood's profit off aborted children's body parts, David Daleiden, has been vindicated of all felony charges in a court court hearing Tuesday.
Daleiden's attorney Peter Breen released a statement on the ruling:
Today's dismissal in Houston is a huge win for the First Amendment rights of undercover journalists. David Daleiden used standard undercover journalism techniques and followed all applicable laws in doing so. This meritless and retaliatory prosecution should never have been brought. Planned Parenthood did wrong here, not David Daleiden.
In January, Daleiden was indicted by a Texas grand jury for felony tampering with a government record (he had used a false ID during his undercover investigation) and a criminal misdemeanor attempt to purchase body parts of aborted children, while no charges were pursued against Planned Parenthood — proceedings his attorneys claim were corrupted because of a biased district attorney.
Following a hearing in June where the misdemeanor charge was dismissed, Daleiden has waited a month for the remaining charge to be dropped.
David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt of the Center for Medical Progress posed as representatives for a fake biotechnology firm looking to purchase fetal tissue and fully intact aborted cadavers. The two used a hidden camera to record meetings with high-ranking Planned Parenthood employees.
Roughly once a week, the two released a new video which showed that Planned Parenthood not only trafficked in body parts of aborted children, but evidence also showed the abortion giant may have illegally participated in partial-birth abortions.
Daleiden received pushback from Planned Parenthood and the liberal media. Not long after the first few videos were released, Planned Parenthood claimed they were manipulatively edited and unreliable — in spite of the fact that Daleiden released the full, unedited footage on YouTube.
Daleiden will be the guest speaker at the Texas Right to Life annual Gala on September 17 in Houston.
