DETROIT (ChurchMilitant.com) - A communist group is calling for Democrat governors and politicians to use the Wuhan virus panic to shift the United States to socialism.
In April, the Democratic Socialists of America, an activist group boasting the membership of radical socialist Democrat representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Rashida Tlaib, proposed a "global democratic socialist response" to the virus, calling it "a capitalist, not a Chinese virus."
Democrat federal politicians, state governors and leftist social media giants are conforming to the DSA's call.
Protesters have been calling out Democrat governors like California's Gavin Newsom, Wisconsin's Tony Evers, Virginia's Ralph Northam and Michigan's Gretchen Whitmer. They're accusing the governors of forcing small businesses to close, claiming it's destroying the economy.
Last week, Federal Reserve Board Chairman Jerome Powell revealed that in March alone, 40% of workers making $40,000 per year or less lost their jobs.
In March and April, over 36 million workers applied for unemployment, with between 2.5 and 3.2 million workers filing each week.
Some people believe the Democratic push to keep small businesses closed is to hurt President Donald Trump, with his own son, Eric, saying on Saturday that Democrats "think they're taking away Donald Trump's greatest tool, which is to go into an arena and fill it with 50,000 people every time."
Democrats are also pushing for mail-in ballots to become the norm. In April, fake Catholic Democrat Nancy Pelosi claimed: "Vote-by-mail is essential to protecting the future of our democracy as we confront this public health crisis," adding, "There is no legitimate argument against enacting it."
In another interview, she asserted, "Vote by mail is so important to ... our democracy so that people have access to voting and not be deterred, especially at this time, by the admonition to stay home."
But critics maintain mail-in-voting is far more apt to manipulation and fraud than standard voting practices. The Federal Election Commission (FEC) noted that more than 28 million mail-in ballots were uncounted between 2012 and 2018 elections, accounting for one-fifth of absentee ballots.
During the 2016 and 2018 elections, it was reported that 16.4 million mail-in ballots went missing.
President Trump commented on Twitter on the Democrats' plan: "Absentee ballots are a great way to vote for the many senior citizens, military and others who can't get to the polls on election day. These ballots are very different from 100% mail-in voting, which is 'RIPE for FRAUD' and shouldn't be allowed!"
Social media, often showing itself to be leftist in its policies, has been working to silence dissent, with Facebook recently banning the organizers of state lockdown protests as "harmful misinformation."
Facebook representatives confirmed it took down protest pages at the request of state governments for New Jersey, California and Nebraska.
YouTube has also been accused of censoring information critical of stay-at-home policies, like a video from the former head of biostatistics, epidemiology and research design at Rockefeller University Dr. Knut M. Wittkowski. He's a proponent of "herd immunity" to fight the Wuhan virus.
He said in his now-deleted video, "With all respiratory diseases, the only thing that stops the disease is herd immunity. About 80% of the people need to have had contact with the virus, and the majority of them won't even have recognized that they were infected."
The Democratic Socialists of America featured a quote by economist Milton Friedman, saying "Only a crisis — actual or perceived — produces real change," and further add that their purpose is "to build a new world on the ashes of the old."
