Illinois is stripping away parental rights so that abortionists have easier access to children. Church Militant's Trey Blanton has the fallout from the Prairie State's assault on life and the family.

Rep. Avery Bourne, R-IL, District 95: "It's about parents having the basic right to know what is going on in their minor child's life."

Illinois' Democratic governor did not agree. On Friday, J.B. Pritzker repealed the Parental Notification Act, which required abortionists to notify parents that their underage child was scheduled to terminate a pregnancy in 48 hours.

Springfield's Bp. Thomas Paprocki warned, "This legislative action violates the most fundamental rights and duties entrusted by God to parents to ensure the health and safety of their children."

Sarah Michalak, upper Midwest coordinator, Students for Life of America: "In some sense, we have given too many rights to parents in terms of being able to abort your children but, then, are taking away fundamental protections that children deserve."

Democrats argue their decision to repeal parental notification was to protect children who are abused in the home. Critics argue the notification process is what allows actual health care doctors to uncover abuse crimes and report them to law enforcement. Abortionists, however, have a documented history of not reporting rape or trafficking.

Michalak: "We had Dr. Brooke Bello come on, and she talked about how she was sex-trafficked when she was a young minor girl. She was forced to have abortions by her sex traffickers. If her mother was notified of those abortions, she would have known where she was."

Democrats have made abortion their golden calf, and nothing, not even parental rights, will stand in the way of maintaining their Culture of Death.

The Parental Notification Act was passed in 1995 but, owing to court battles, was only implemented in 2013. Pritzker's repeal will take effect in June next year.
