Abortion is the preeminent human rights abuse of our time. So-called Catholic politicians occupy the highest positions of leadership in our country yet oppose Church teaching on human rights. In tonight's In-Depth Report, Church Militant's Trey Blanton highlights the prelate continuing the defense of civil rights in America.
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi: "When we go back to Washington, we will be putting Roe v. Wade codification on the floor of the House."
Fake Catholic Nancy Pelosi responded to the Texas Heartbeat Act, taking a strong stance in support of the so-called right to kill one's child. Democrats and fake Catholics have historically opposed Church morality on human rights. Pelosi's San Francisco archbishop, Salvatore Cordileone, speaks about Catholics who supported black segregation.
Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone:
We shudder in horror nowadays when we think about the treatment of African Americans of the pre–civil rights South. ... The archbishop of New Orleans at that time was on the forefront of moving toward civil rights in his archdiocese and was opposed by some prominent Catholics. He was accused of taking the Church back to the dark ages when he excommunicated those three prominent Catholics.
New Orleans archbishop Joseph Rummel stood firm, defending Church teaching in the face of overwhelming opposition from parishioners.
Abp. Joseph Rummel: "I am happy to know that there exists here in the archdiocese of New Orleans true, wonderful appreciation of the duty and responsibility of charity towards God's little ones."
Two of the three excommunicated segregation supporters repented and died in good standing. Many in the pro-life community know abortion is just a continuation of the war against racial minorities in America.
Christina Bennett, a black pro-life activist, told a crowd, "If we only believe. And if we only work towards that. And I want you to know that you are part of a movement of hope. This is an extension of the civil rights movement. This is the human rights movement of our day."
Fake Catholic Joe Biden, under the guise of helping women, has mobilized the Justice Department under Attorney General Merrick Garland to sue Texas over the heartbeat law.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton: "I've never seen the federal government so adamant in trying to shut down states from operating as they should, independently, and operating under their own laws."
Cordileone supports Texas in its fight to uphold the rights of both the preborn and their mothers.
Cordileone: "They [Texas] got this right. It's not just a matter of making abortion illegal. If that's all we did, and nothing more, it could even make the situation worse. ... They are investing $100 million in their Alternatives to Abortion program. So women really will have alternatives and can make a happy choice."
Bishops today are sharply divided on whether they should excommunicate pro-abort politicians. Leadership and courage from individuals drive history forward.
Bishops openly supported the heartbeat law after it passed; however, the Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops was notably neutral when the act was being debated.
