A popular city on the Left coast has found a way to award people who pretend to be the opposite sex.
In tonight's In-Depth Report, Church Militant's Paul Murano looks at a new social program that has many people shaking their heads.
Anchor, ABC7, Calif.: "A new pilot program launching in San Francisco will guarantee income for dozens of transgender people for a year and a half."
Old-school socialism and new progressive ideology are converging in San Francisco to produce the new GIFT program — an acronym for "guaranteed income for transgender people."
Those with sexual identity disorder, who may have had themselves mutilated, could soon receive free money for 18 months.
A local health service partnering with the city and county of San Francisco is providing 55 people $1,200 a month.
Those invited to enroll include "transgender, non-binary, gender nonconforming and intersex people who are also black, indigenous or people of color."
In other words, not straight white people.
Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky.: "The American College of Pediatricians reports that 80 to 95% of prepubertal children with gender dysphoria will experience resolution by late adolescence if not exposed to medical intervention and social affirmation."
In addition, participants will be provided the abuse that's euphemistically called "gender-affirming care," as well as leftist ideological counseling.
Rachel Levine, assistant secretary for health, HHS: "Transgender medicine is a very complex and nuanced field with robust research and standards of care that have been developed."
San Francisco mayor London Breed, who announced the program Wednesday, said in a statement, "We know that our trans communities experience much higher rates of poverty and discrimination, so this program will target support to lift individuals in this community up."
Despite the novelty, this isn't the only such program that San Francisco has come up with in the past couple of years.
In 2020, the city began its "Abundant Birth Project," offering $1,000 a month of basic income to specifically Black and Pacific Islander mothers and so-called birthing people. These payments continue for two years after the women give birth.
And not to be outdone by Black and Brown "birthing people," minority artists in San Francisco are also getting a piece of the pie. In 2021, the "Guaranteed Income Pilot for Artists" was launched.
This program combines modern art and racism to secure $1,000 a month for almost 200 local artists.
Mayor London Breed, San Francisco, Calif.: "What was important for me is that we support our artists in San Francisco. They have a hard enough time affording to live in a place like San Francisco."
Critics argue that since California's homeless problem is rampant, support for leftist pet projects related to race and deviant sex is an unjust allocation of funds.
To continue its slide into socialism, in 2023, the city of San Francisco plans to launch two additional guaranteed income programs geared toward youth.
