David DeJiacomo was deeply entrenched in the homosexual lifestyle for nearly 30 years and had more than a thousand partners. After a powerful conversion experience before a statue of St. Joseph in a Catholic church, DeJiacomo turned from a life of misery back to the Catholic faith.

"I believed I was born this way," DeJiacomo told Church Militant in a recent interview. "There was nothing I could do about it. But right now, what I'd say to them now is this: I am living proof that it's a lie. You can get out."

DeJiacomo is now an active member of his parish and the local Knights of Columbus Chapter in Denver, Colorado, where his friendship with solid, virtuous, straight Catholic men has brought about a great deal of healing.

"Every time I turn on the television they talk about addiction now — alcohol, drugs, and they say you can get out," he said. "If you can get out of those strong addictions, how come you can't get out of the homosexual ... lifestyle? It's an addiction."

DeJiacomo has written an autobiography, and is currently raising funds to have it professionally edited and published. His project is meant to help rescue others "out of the theatre of darkness" of the gay lifestyle.

"If it helps one person get out of that lifestyle, then all this was worth it, everything I had to go through was worth it," he told Church Militant. "I think that's why God has asked me to do this, because He needed somebody to speak up, somebody who is not afraid."

"I want to bring other men and women now too out of the lifestyle and back into happiness," he went on, "out of the theatre of darkness."

Fundingmorality.com, a crowdfunding site run by Arthur Goldberg, founder of the Jewish Institute for Global Awareness, speaks a little on DeJiacomo's project.

David tells his story with wit, heart and deeply felt experience reflected in his own distinctive voice. The draft is now complete; however, he needs a professional editor to make his story more accessible to the broad audience of people interested in understanding how a person can transform his life to one consistent with Biblical values through a combination of strong motivation based on his faith and the therapy that helped him discover the underlying forces that pushed him into a difficult lifestyle.

Their goal is to raise $8,000 to have his book published and marketed.

DeJiacomo speaks of a surprising and unexpected result of the counseling he received after leaving homosexuality.

"I did reparative therapy," he explained to Church Militant. "I did it so that I could be comfortable with men. ... I had to be able to sit with men and be comfortable, but because of the therapy and how they were working with me, I found a renewed interest in women. And I'm dating women now like you would not believe."

He added, "I've never been happier. This is the happiest I've been."
