WASHINGTON (ChurchMilitant.com) - America's youth made their voice heard, for better or for worse, in Tuesday's historic midterm elections.
The numbers continue to roll in from election day and are showing that citizens under 30 played a decisive role in establishing Democratic strongholds, passing unthinkable child-killing legislation and tipping the nation ever more towards socialism. But America's up-and-coming generation of voters may not fully realize what they have willed for their own future.
"One thing I know already. If not for voters under 30 ... tonight WOULD have been a Red Wave," one critic wrote on Twitter. The comment was in response to a CNN national House exit poll, which revealed Americans 18 to 29 — Gen Z — swung left by a whopping 28 percentage points. Voters 30 to 44 years old leaned Democrat by only 2 points while those 45 years and older favored Republicans by over 10 points.
Two decades of socialist brainwashing in schools. Dems won — period. https://t.co/JHMnt5WLSX

Voters under 30 have always been hard to activate for elections, especially midterms, but Gen Z showed up to vote in historic numbers on Tuesday, many for the first time. Around the nation, videos showed college students lined up into the early hours of Wednesday to cast their votes, favoring the Left. For example, The University of Michigan's Ann Arbor campus reported that 95% of the students at the polls voted for Gretchen Whitmer, the now-reelected governor of Michigan who shut the state down during COVID and ordered Americans to stay in their homes while she sent COVID-positive patients into nursing homes.
Also on the ballot for Michiganders was a proposal enabling future election theft and the nation's most extreme abortion amendment. The so-called reproductive freedom act will allow babies to be murdered at any point during pregnancy by anyone anywhere in the state, regardless of qualifications, and with no health and safety requirements. Both proposals passed resoundingly, a similar story to what played out in many states on election night.
A recent Gallup poll showed that over half of Gen Z Americans view socialism positively. Considering that socialists — like America's current Democratic party — gain power by stripping citizens of rights and ultimately bring violence and suffering, many are asking how young Americans could vote for such a regime. Inflation is soaring; the economy is failing; the southern border is overrun; the U.S. military is weak; national debt is in the trillions and a severe recession is looming, yet the nation's youth showed up to vote and gave geriatric Joe Biden and his socialist party a stamp of approval.
Most Americans have been wincing at the gas pump, seeing their 401(k)s cut in half, and seeing their children groomed by radicals. But from kindergarten to university, young Americans have been formed by an educational system that has been infiltrated by communist ideologies contrary to human flourishing.
Starting with the Catholic Church, which is the mother of Western education and should be the bastion of morality in any society, we see an erosion in America. In 1967, The University of Notre Dame's Fr. Theodore Hesburgh joined with his peers to sign the Land O' Lakes Statement, which was drafted in large part by the disgraced ex-cardinal and homo-predator Theodore McCarrick. The statement essentially called for Catholic colleges and universities to abandon Catholic teaching and values.
Political commentators often use the phrase "politics is downstream of culture." A less commonly understood truth is that culture is downstream of the Church. It wasn't long after Land O' Lakes that God was completely removed from America's educational system, allowing pernicious ideologies to take root.
American psychiatrist and Harvard Medical School professor Chester Middlebrook Pierce wrote of the American education system:
Every child in America entering school at the age of five is insane because he comes to school with certain allegiances to our founding fathers, toward our elected officials, toward his parents, toward a belief in a supernatural being and toward the sovereignty of this nation as a separate entity. It's up to you, as teachers, to make all of these sick children well.
Pierce was the president of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences — and was also involved in the CIA's infamous thought control project MKUltra.
Beginning in the late 1980s, a Christian education foundation known as the Nehemiah Institute began analyzing the impact of godless ideology on the worldview of American students. The "PEERS test," as it's branded, is designed to gauge whether Christian students are retaining their Christian worldview as they make their way through the U.S. education system. As early as 2008, the institute found that if current trends continued, Christian students attending public schools would become socialist in worldview by 2014 and that Christian students attending Christian schools would cross the socialist barrier by 2018.
A small number of Catholic schools are attempting to mitigate the effects of socialist indoctrination by offering an authentic liberal arts education. The classical liberal arts can be understood by considering the Latin word libertas, meaning "freedom." A proper classical education frees the mind from opinions and ideologies by focusing on truth, which is ultimately Jesus Christ. Indoctrination obscures the truth and leaves the human intellect malnourished, making it dependent on public opinion and media lies.
Even Ancient Greek and Roman pagan philosophers, centuries before the Incarnation of Our Lord, understood the need for man to form his intellect and to pursue virtue in order for a society to flourish.
In the 18th century, Scottish historian Alexander Tytler predicted a "Cycle of Democracy" based on fallen human nature:
The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; from spiritual faith to great courage; from courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance; from abundance to selfishness; from selfishness to apathy; from apathy to dependence; from dependence back into bondage.
It is easy to see that America has enjoyed abundance in the last one hundred years as the world's most powerful nation and the "leader of the free world." But as a consequence of the century of abundance, there have emerged complacent generations of Americans who have turned from God and are apathetic to the worst of crimes — abortion. And now, America's younger generations are dependent on a system that indulges their selfishness and apathy. The nation's young have hardly seen hardship. They have been spoiled by their parents' pensions, decorated with participation medals and deluded by social media.
On Tuesday, the Republican party was blindsided by a generation of Americans who have clamored for a higher minimum wage, more COVID stimulus checks and their student loans and financial responsibilities "forgiven" by a nanny State. Young Americans are willing themselves into bondage under a socialist government. Any educated individual who glances briefly at human history will see that it will not be long until the stimulus checks and loan forgiveness turn into long breadlines and unforgiving tyranny.
But if Tytler's theory proves true, bondage is the last era before the suffering and purification that brings about faith. Hard times produce strong men. The next generation of Americans needs to suffer and be tested. Only a just and courageous generation can throw off the socialist party gaining control of the nation. And only a generation obedient to God and His Church can save America from the vicious cycle once again.
