The Church Militant offices are closed for the Thanksgiving Holiday. We and live chapel prayers will return Monday.
Gender ideology has ruined a 108-year-old American institution known as the Boy Scouts of America. The organization, known for building moral character in male youth, started accepting gay scouts in 2013, gay scout leaders in 2015, so-called transgender scouts in 2017 and has now adopted a gender-neutral name as part of an ad campaign seeking to recruit girls in 2018.
Church Militant viewer Jamie Prevo, an Eagle Scout, shared his dismal experience that resulted from the introduction of co-ed scouts in Canada:
In 1992 everything changed, there was something MUCH different that year. That was the year Canada allowed girls in their units. Now all a sudden there were groups of girls grouped together through the camp, giggling and packs of boys following them with their tongues hanging out. Then low and behold my security crew caught two Canadian scouts (a boy and girl) having sex in the woods.
Radical feminists and LGBT activists continue their attack on manhood by pushing their genderless ideals on young males during their formative years in the Boy Scouts. Broken manhood in the form of effeminate or emasculated men is the result. The Girl Scouts are upset by the move that takes away their potential clients but have integrity issues of their own.
Archbishop Joseph Naumann of Kansas last year called for Catholics to stop supporting the Girl Scouts (GSUSA) because of their ties to radical feminism and their support for Planned Parenthood. In his statement, Abp. Naumann asked pastors "to begin the process of transitioning away from the hosting of parish Girl Scout troops" and recommended the American Heritage Girls (AHG) instead. The Girl Scouts, he noted, contribute more than $1 million annually towards international legislation, promoting "both contraception and abortion as preventive health care for women."
For Catholic parents of boys, however, there are alternatives. One Catholic alternative is sending their young men to the Troops of St. George. This is an unabashedly all male, all Catholic group with a focus on moral integrity as understood by the Catholic Church. Their Catholic focus includes:
- Singing Catholic hymns
- Awards with saints names
- Catholic standards of morality and virtue
Along with fostering male character formation and healthy male bonding, they also focus on outdoor activities. On these scores, they are everything that the Boy Scouts used to be.
