Democrats are reeling from low approval, and they are scrambling to salvage their 2022 prospects. Church Militant's Trey Blanton explores the hole unelected Joe Biden has dug for himself and is trying to climb out of.

Governor-Elect Glenn Youngkin: "Friends, we are going to re-establish excellence in our schools." Glenn Youngkin's win for Republicans in Virginia has excited fervor on both sides of the aisle leading into the 2022 midterms.

House Minority Leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif.: "If you're a Democrat and President Biden won your seat by 16 points, you're in a competitive race next year. You are no longer safe."

Republicans have the momentum as a poll released this weekend shows Biden has less than 38% support, with a dismal 59% disapproval. These numbers are worse than President Trump's rating in his first year, and 69% of voters don't even want Biden to run for re-election.

Biden is banking on the bipartisan infrastructure bill to bolster his image.

Joe Biden: "Modernize our infrastructure — our roads, our bridges, our broadband and a whole range of things. To turn the climate crisis into an opportunity."

Popular support for infrastructure may not overcome myriad ongoing controversies, including Biden's vax tyranny.

Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn.: "If you don't get the jab, Joe Biden is going to get you fired from your job."

Biden's struggles also soar overseas in his foreign misdealings. America's reputation has been damaged by last week's report that no one in Biden's administration would be punished for killing a humanitarian worker and several children in Afghanistan during America's botched withdrawal.

Next year's political landscape will be shaped by party turnout and buyer's remorse from independent voters.

Biden's troubles aren't even close to over. In addition to his other floundering numbers, 20% — one out of every five Americans — flat out want him to retire, but clearly haven't thought about what happens next.
