Michigan's citizens are calling for a new governor.

Chad Baase, a Michigan resident, has launched a petition to recall Democrat governor Gretchen Whitmer who has earned the ire of freedom-minded Michiganders calling her Wuhan virus lockdowns excessive and unwarranted.

Whitmer has been considered a top contender as vice president for Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden. On March 11, she issued the first of several executive orders closing most businesses throughout the state.

Whitmer's lockdown was one of the first in the nation, as were the protests that followed.

At one point protesters went into the capitol building in Lansing armed to make themselves heard.

In May, President Trump spoke out in support of protesters calling them "very good people" and saying they're angry and want their lives back, asking Whitmer to "make a deal."

Baase made two previous attempts to start the petition, which were rejected by the Michigan Board of State Canvassers. His latest effort was approved by the Board on June 8 and will be collecting signatures for up to 180 days.

The Committee to Recall Governor Whitmer will be distributing petitions on the Capitol lawn in Lansing on July 4.

In May, the Associated Builders and Contractors of Greater Michigan and DJ's Lawn Service employing over 200 people filed suit against Whitmer for infringement of constitutional rights and damages.

While the lockdown is gradually letting up, Michigan workers and business owners are still reeling and families are still suffering.
