WASHINGTON ( - The top spokesman for the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is apologizing for saying career scientists are throwing public health under the bus in an attempt to oust President Trump in November.

Michael Caputo

Michael Caputo, HHS assistant secretary for public affairs, is taking a leave of absence after apologizing to staff for a Facebook Live video on Sunday wherein he said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is using the Wuhan virus to attack Trump.

"There are scientists who work for this government who do not want America to get well, not until after Joe Biden is president," Caputo said in the video.

Caputo went on to warn his audience to prepare for violent insurrection after the election, speculating Trump will win in November but Joe Biden will not concede defeat.

"When Donald Trump refuses to stand down at the inauguration, the shooting will begin," he said. "If you carry guns, buy ammunition, ladies and gentlemen, because it's going to be hard to get."

Prior Claims of CDC Deception

In March, a former HHS assistant secretary for preparedness and response said the CDC lied to President Trump and HHS Secretary Alex Azar about the center's ability to produce Wuhan-virus testing kits.

"The U.S. government, from Secretary Azar to the president relied on the Centers for Disease Control to produce a test; they failed. ... CDC said they would handle it," said Meekins.

When Donald Trump refuses to stand down at the inauguration, the shooting will begin.

"What we have found out is that these leaders at the CDC lied to both the HHS secretary and, by extension, the president," he continued. "And, as a result, the nation got weeks behind."

In July, Trump retweeted American television host Chuck Woolery, who also said the CDC is lying.

In the tweet, Woolery said, "The most outrageous lies are the ones about COVID-19. Everyone is lying. The CDC, media, Democrats, our doctors (not all, but most that we are told to trust)."

The most outrageous lies are the ones about COVID-19.

"I think it's all about the election and keeping the economy from coming back, which is about the election," he added. "I'm sick of it."

In 2017, Dr. Alex Vasquez published a detailed report on what he says is the CDC's deception regarding vaccines. The CDC has yet to refute the report.

Democrats and the CDC

The U.S. House of Representatives' Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis, led by Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.), is conducting an investigation into what they have already concluded is deception on the part of the Trump administration and not the CDC.

Rep. James E. Clyburn

"On Monday, my colleagues and I launched an investigation into efforts by senior Trump administration officials to alter, delay and block critical scientific reports from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as part of President Trump's strategy to downplay the coronavirus crisis," said Clyburn.

"The department's announcement today that both officials are leaving their roles, with Mr. Caputo taking a leave of absence and Dr. Alexander exiting the department, is an important first step," he added.

"Now, I call on the president and the rest of his administration to commit to being straight with the American people about the dangers of the coronavirus and to ending their dangerous attempts to suppress science for political gain," Clyburn continued.

"I also call on the administration to fully cooperate with the select subcommittee's ongoing investigation so the American people can understand exactly how political appointees interfered with CDC's work on the coronavirus, and what steps are still needed to end this interference before more Americans die needlessly," concluded the pro-abortion congressman.
