The right to homeschool is under fire by those wanting to indoctrinate children in leftist ideology.
Harvard Law Professor Elizabeth Bartholet is calling for the government to usurp the right of parents to educate their children at home.
In a recent interview, Bartholet suggested homeschooling gives parents "authoritarian control" over children saying, "I think it's always dangerous to put powerful people in charge of the powerless, and to give the powerful ones total authority."
But homeschooling advocates say Bartholet is actually promoting authoritarianism by pushing for more state control over education, rendering parents powerless.
But indoctrinating children into a leftist worldview seems to be Bartholet's underlying goal.
In a recent article on homeschooling, Bartholet says she wants children exposed to so-called alternate views that include "ideas such as secularism, atheism, feminism and value relativism ... ."
It's this sort of indoctrination, however, that has driven droves of parents to take up homeschooling over the past few decades.
The Catholic Church is clear on the primary and inalienable right of parents to educate their children, teaching that "parents have the right to choose a school for them ..." and that "public authorities have the duty of guaranteeing this parental right ... ."
But Bartholet and her Harvard allies are strategizing how best to throttle the homeschooling movement and win control over innocent young minds.
