HOUSTON (ChurchMilitant.com) - Houston-based Catholics are holding a rosary rally in reparation for a satanic black mass being held at a craft beer brewery.
The sold-out black mass will be performed by members of the Houston chapter of The Satanic Temple (TSTH) which calls the event "an evening with the beast." It's the organization's first public ritual and will be the closing ceremony at Brash Brewing on Nov. 23 at 11:00 p.m. held in conjunction with the release of the brewery's similarly named ale.
Rally organizer, Elvia Leyva, tells Church Militant, "We are appalled and outraged to learn that such an affront to Our Lord is in the works in our city."
Levya explains, "A public satanic mass brings a big curse upon the city, they open the door to a host of demons, they provoke the anger of Our Lord, they make Him withdraw His graces from us and they foster religious persecution of Catholics among other things."
Houston-area parishes, Regina Caeli and Annunciation, will be hosting prayers of reparation in front of the Blessed Sacrament from 11:00 p.m. Saturday to 1:00 a.m. on Sunday for the duration of the black mass.
The brewery's Facebook announcement says:
Join the Satanic Temple Houston (TSTH) at Brash brewing company as we co-host an exciting celebration: the Black Masses early bottle release and TSTH's first public ritual. The Black Mass will be the closing ceremony of TSTH's animal supply drive, where we will celebrate the beast within while collecting dog food, toys, bedding, cat litter, and other supplies for the neglected creatures around us. All supplies benefit Hot Mess Pooches Rescue and Sanctuary and Lucky Penny Rox Rescue Join us for good beer, great company, excellent blasphemy, and to learn about the support we bring to our communities.
Two types of tickets were available for purchase before the event sold out. General admission and another called the Cult ticket cost $666. With only 50 available, it allows the purchaser entrance to the black mass, a fitted black robe for the ceremony, 22 oz. bottle of Black Masses double coffee imperial milk stout and other lifetime brewery benefits.
Brash has had other events in conjunction with the Houston chapter of The Satanic Temple, including Deviant Delights, held on October 12.
Also scheduled for November 29 is a "Black Friday 'Coffee' and Breakfast" featuring the brewery's name around a logoized version of the baphomet, popularly used as an image of satan.
Jon Winningham, a person associated with the event according to Facebook posts, refused to comment, saying he was "absolutely not interested in speaking to someone representing Catholic media."
The Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston has not responded to Church Militant with a comment.
Levya further explains to Church Militant, "We ask all Catholics in the city and the rest of the country and the world to flood the brewery with calls demanding this blasphemy to be cancelled," adding, "We ask for prayers, sacrifices, masses offered, devotions, holy hours of Adoration, etc. Whatever you can help us to fight this evil and this threat."
The rosary rally will be held on Saturday, November 23, 4:30–6:30 p.m. across the street from Brash Brewing in Houston. The brewery's phone number is (346) 240-3152.
