DALLAS (ChurchMilitant.com) - A jury is forcing a Texas father to be silent while his ex-wife forces their son to be a girl.
On Monday, a jury in Dallas, Texas, ruled that Jeff Younger, the father of seven-year-old James, cannot intervene while his son is encouraged by his mother to exhibit as a girl.
Younger has been fighting his ex-wife Anne Georgulas in court because she is claiming their son wants to be a girl and has been pushing for the child to wear dresses and call himself "Luna."
Beginning on October 15, jurors listened to witnesses for both Younger and Georgulas before deciding on Monday that Younger could not have sole conservatorship over James — he is not allowed to make serious medical decisions regarding treatment for James for alleged gender dysphoria.
Georgulas had begun treating James like a girl when he was three years old, pushing to transition after he said he liked a female character in the Disney movie, Frozen, and asked for a girl's toy in his McDonald's happy meal.
Afterward, she took James to a therapist who affirmed James' apparent female identity and since then, James wears dresses when he stays with his mother and when he goes to school.
Younger noted in a document published on Save James, "[James] says he wants to be a girl only at Ms. Georgulas's home. When James is with his Father, he refuses girl's clothes, says he is a boy to family and to friends, refuses to play with girls, and engages in typically male play."
Georgulias, a pediatrician, claimed in court on Monday that she didn't intend to push James to a medical transition — using puberty blockers and hormone therapy. But Younger's lawyer noted, "She's changed her tune" and proved in court she intended to go forward with puberty blockers when James reached 8-9 years old.
In a comment to The Epoch Times, Younger noted, "We put up an email from Ms. Georgulas to me in which she contemplates removing the penis from her son."
He added, "We showed that to the jury. They saw it 20 minutes before they went into deliberations, and when they came out they voted 11 to 1 against me. What that tells me is that conservatives can no longer rely on a social consensus that basically agrees with traditional family values."
Younger said the verdict was an indication of the fracturing of society over moral questions:
The two sides in this conflict in America—I used to call them liberals and conservatives, but what are conservatives conserving? There's nothing left to conserve. They've lost every battle with the political left for the last 60 years. It’s a battle between liberals and traditionalists. It’s not a political ideology that is separating us, it’s not superficial beliefs about politics or policies. We are leading ontologically different lives, and those differences that we have are fundamentally irreconcilable. There can be no compromise.
He added that Democrat Judge Kim Cooks of the 255th Family District Court will be making a final decision on Thursday. Younger concluded he may still get rights as a joint managing conservator, which would at least allow him to be notified of health decisions made on James' behalf.
