Both liberals and Islamic terrorists share the same vision: the destruction of Western civilization.
In a new interview with ChurchMilitant.com, conservative journalist and political commentator Ben Shapiro says that's why President Obama, Hillary Clinton and other liberals make up excuses for Islamic terrorism.
Liberals embrace Islamic fundamentalism, even though Islam doesn't reciprocate the sentiment. People are noting how odd the relationship is, considering liberalism's heavy promotion of LGBT culture and the abolition of traditional morality — both things Islamic fundamentalism publicly stands against. But at the same time, Islamists make no pretense of approving anything "liberal" in Western society, even calling America "The Great Satan" and going to great lengths to profess it wants Islam to conquer the world, with all its laws and doctrines applied to the fullest degree.
Conservatives are appalled at the liberal reaction to terrorism. After last week's attack in San Bernardino, where 14 people were killed, President Obama conducted only the third Oval Office address of his presidency to address the event. He stated the attackers had "gone down the dark path of radicalization" and embraced a "perverted version of Islam." He called out Congress to pass laws forbidding anyone on the "no-fly" list from being able to purchase firearms.
Conservatives called his solution "misguided" since both shooters were not on a no-fly list, and California has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the United States.
Instead of blaming Islamic fundamentalism, liberals tend to put the blame on climate change and the attitudes of conservative Americans, especially those in favor of making firearm ownership easier.
President Obama claimed in June that terrorism was caused by so-called climate change: "It's now believed … that drought and crop failures and high food prices helped fuel the early unrest in Syria, which descended into civil war in the heart of the Middle East."
In Paris last week at the World Climate Summit, he further claimed that people's consideration for protecting the environment was the first line of defense against terrorism, even saying of his own presence at the summit, "What a powerful rebuke to the terrorists it will be when the world stands as one and shows that we will not be deterred from building a better future for our children."
Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders are fond of blaming guns for terrorist acts rather than the terrorists themselves. Clinton's first reaction to last week's attack in San Bernardino was to blame guns. The FBI, however, is investigating the event as a terrorist attack and have found the shooters to be Islamic fundamentalists.
Shapiro explained to ChurchMilitant.com's Michael Voris it's a common tactic to blame conservatives, callinging them bigots and xenophobes. He says liberals, like Islamic fundamentalists, claim the United States was founded on racism, evil and sin. Both ideologies want to wipe the slate clean and remake society according to their own designs.
