LOS ANGELES (ChurchMilitant.com) - Loyola Marymount University (LMU), a school claiming to be Catholic, is a sponsor for a weekend program billed as a "yoga class of one million to battle breast cancer."
The event, called Project OM, is called by organizers "the world's largest yoga class of one million bodies strong." LMU is the Los Angeles-based sponsor for the event, which is taking place at locations throughout the United States on May 13 — the 100th anniversary of the apparitions or Our Lady at Fatima.
The event is also donating money to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer awareness and research which also gives money to Planned Parenthood (PP), the biggest abortion provider in the United States.
In 2015, the organization faced backlash after it was revealed the foundation gave money to the abortion giant — the same year the Center for Medical Progress exposed PP for illegally selling the body parts of aborted babies.
Republican lawmakers killed a bill that would have given the foundation nearly $5. As a result, the organization claimed it was not paying for abortions but for the referrals that PP was providing.
Although LMU considers itself "institutionally committed to Roman Catholicism" and claims to take its inspiration from the Jesuit order, the Marymount Sisters and Sisters of St. Joseph, it has had a difficult time showing its "Catholic identity".
In 2014, the university hired an atheist to be the head of its liberal arts school, even knowing she had close affiliations with abortion giant PP.
In 2016, it allowed former-President Bill Clinton to deliver the commencement address to its graduates and awarded him an honorary degree. All this, despite the fact Clinton loosened regulations on abortion in the United States and lobbied to expand abortion in other countries, even injecting federal money into the promotion of abortion and contraception in poor nations as a solution to poverty. He also vetoed a ban on late-term partial birth abortions, required that Medicare pay for abortions and allowed abortions on U.S. military bases throughout the world.
That same year, a 15-year employee was charged with a hate crime for defending Catholic teaching on marriage and human sexuality. The university punished and alienated a university employee while catering to LGBT activists on campus.
Afterward, university President Timothy Law Snyder announced efforts to "highlight our diversity and inclusion efforts" by announcing the installation of more gender-neutral bathrooms on the campus.
LMU philosophy professor, Dr. Christopher Kaczor maintains the university will cease to be Catholic in less than a generation. Currently, only four of its professors are Catholic.
