Michigan patriots gathered today at the state capitol to demand a forensic audit of the 2020 presidential election results. The rally included talks by Trump-endorsed candidates for Michigan secretary of state and attorney general, both facing diehard Democrat incumbents. Church Militant's William Mahoney has more from the ground on the Great Lake State's fight for election integrity.

In a recent statement, President Donald Trump backed the Michigan rally for what he called a "forensic audit of the 2020 presidential election scam." But while Trump supporters were present, one former state senator explained the fight for election integrity is not ultimately about Trump.

Patrick Colbeck: "This is not about President Trump, as much as I support him. It's not about Joe Biden. It's about whether or not we're going to be a nation of laws; whether or not we're going to abide by our Constitution; whether or not we're going to have integrity in our elections."

Another speaker, Kristina Karamo, is challenging Michigan's current secretary of state. Karamo tweeted in August, "We are going to fire Jocelyn Benson [the incumbent] for what she did to our election in Michigan."

Kristina Karamo:

Citizens have the right to scrutinize the election process. Myself and many other people witnessed election fraud. I saw illegal ballots being cast. I saw a process designed to facilitate corruption. I saw poll challangers' rights being violated. So, when you witness something with your own two eyes and you come and alert the public and you're being shot down as saying, "Oh no, there wasn't that much fraud." Well, first of all, how much is too much?

Also present was Matt DePerno, a devout Catholic challenging Michigan's devout Democrat attorney general, Dana Nessel.

Matt DePerno:

One of those rights not delegated to the federal government is voting rights. So our state legislature has the right to conduct an audit. They have a right to issue subpoenas. They don't need permission from anyone to do it. And we want to be able to give them courage and an understanding of that right.

The common theme of the rally was, this is not a partisan fight, but one for free and fair elections to ensure "We the People" does not become a deceptive communist catchphrase used by a selected, unelected ruling class.

Patriots gathered here at the capitol are fighting hard for election integrity, recognizing if it's not secured now, the United States will never again be a free country.

More than a thousand people turned out for the rally, with even more joining online.
