Rep. Mike Moon made pro-aborts lose their minds by slaughtering a chicken on camera

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (ChurchMilitant.com) - Missouri senators are passing a bill requiring abortion mills to have annual health inspections. Senate Bill 5, sponsored by Sen. Andrew Koenig, was passed on June 15 and is now heading to the Missouri House of Representatives.

Governor Eric Greitens called a special session of the legislature for the purpose of passing pro-life legislation, leading a rally on Wednesday in support of the special session and the legislation. Pro-abortion groups also held a rally, calling it "The People's Special Session" in protest of the bill. Two dozen people were bussed in for the rally.

Missouri State Representative Mike Moon drew the ire of abortion and animals rights activists alike when he shot a video of himself speaking in support of the session while slaughtering a chicken. In the video, Rep. Moon said:

God gave man dominion over life. He allows us to raise animals properly, care for them and then process them for food so we can sustain life, and that's what I'm doing here with this chicken. We've been called back to this special session for the primary purpose of supporting life, protecting the unborn specifically, and I think we need to get to the heart of the matter here.

NARAL tweet against Rep. Moon

PETA President Ingrid Newkirk said, "This is cruelty to animals, and he should be arrested." NARAL Missouri tweeted out a graphic, labeling Moon a "dirty, rotten, sexist scoundrel." In a June 12 tweet, Rep. Moon said, "Some people seem to be freaking out about the chicken video ... I wonder if they know what an abortion is?"

Rep. Moon is the author of two additional pro-life bills intended to challenge Roe v. Wade. House Bill 709, known as the Missouri Right to Life Act, states that "personhood begins at conception and unborn children are people; repeals current statutory provisions, acknowledging the preemption of state law by the Constitution of the United States and decisions of the U.S. Supreme Court."

Moon's proposed amendment to the Missouri state Constitution (HJR18), defining a "person" for the purpose of the law and says "the term person under the Missouri Constitution includes every human being, including every unborn human child at every stage of biological development from the moment of conception until birth."

According to Rep. Moon, House Bill 1014, called the Never Again Act filed in February, directs the Department of Natural Resources in Missouri to "create and display an exhibit within the state museum regarding the history of abortion."

Moon's proposals are similar to legislation passed by the Oklahoma House in May, declaring abortion as murder. In a YouTube video posted on Rep. Moon's page, featuring comments in the Missouri House, he says:

This is the third year, maybe even the fourth, that this type of bill has been filed. And of course, we got it to the floor last year, but this year because of the opposition, again from the most pro-life group, and I'm going to put that in quotes, the most 'pro-life' group in Missouri, they for some reason don't want to have abortion stopped.

Missouri Right to Life's formal statement on personhood inititatives and bills says the following:

We cannot fall victim to the American weakness of being impatient about change. Sometimes, Americans think that human hearts are as malleable as aluminum and steel, and if we can learn in one decade how to hurl manned space capsules to the moon and back, we ought to be able to stop abortion in a similarly short time. The world does not work like that.
