The National Education Association (NEA) is not only the nation's largest union with approximately 2.7 million members, it is also a significant purveyor of childhood gender dysphoria as normative behavior as revealed by its 2019 National Reading Day partnership with Welcoming Schools, a well-funded transgender and non-binary advocacy group, and other prominent LGBTQ organizations.

The Federalist reported March 18 that NEA President Lily Eskelsen Garcia attended a Feb. 28 reading of the book I Am Jazz to a class of Ashlawn Elementary School kindergartners in Arlington, Virginia. The book is co-written by Jazz Jennings, the subject of TLC network's reality series about a teenage boy who identifies as female.

The book, according to The Federalist, was read by a "transgender rights activist" — a man dressed as a woman and calling himself Sarah McBride — to kindergartners in the classroom of openly homosexual teacher Jaim Foster. McBride was representing the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, a nonprofit activist group that sponsors LGBTQ efforts through its Welcoming Schools Program.

The Ashlawn kindergarten spectacle was among many nationwide events commemorating the 22nd annual National Reading Day, which was originally conceived to honor the birthday of Theodor Geisel (the nom-de-plume of Dr. Seuss) and his contributions to children's literature. As noted by the NEA press release, the event ostensibly was created to promote childhood literacy and reading habits:

"From the beginning, Read Across America has been an incredible vehicle for focusing attention on literacy. Good reading skills are the cornerstone to success," said Eskelsen García. "Developing these skills puts students on the pathway to a lifetime of learning and adventure, and providing a diverse array of book titles goes a long way toward cultivating students' interests. When students have an array of books from which to choose, they are more likely to enjoy the experience and keep at it."

Rather than more traditional young children's fare such as Fox in Socks and Green Eggs and Ham, however, the day has been commemorated in recent years with alternative lifestyle propaganda. The article notes that the NEA "welcomed LGBTQ groups to serve as official sponsors of this year's national reading event." The NEA's press release reads:

On February 28, Eskelsen García will participate in the fourth annual Jazz and Friends National Day of School and Community Readings event at an elementary school in Arlington, Va. The event, sponsored by NEA and the Welcoming Schools Program at the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation, will support our nation's transgender and non-binary students. Eskelsen García will read to students from one of the diverse books highlighted in NEA's Read Across America calendar.

Although an emailed letter was sent to notify Ashlawn Elementary parents prior to the reading, The Federalist notes it was written only in English. The multicultural makeup of Ashlawn should've required translations of the letter — as indicated by the school's switchboard, which requires callers, including Church Militant, select the language in which they are most comfortable speaking.

The Federalist adds:

Moreover, although the letter notes that a book written by a transgender person would be read to the class, it does not explicitly say that kindergarteners will be told they may have a "girl brain but a boy body" or a boy brain and a girl body, as the book claims. Nor does it say that the kids would be read to by a cross-dressing man who calls himself "Sarah." Rather, it says only that "there will be discussion around the big ideas of the books which are we want to accept and welcome all people."

According to its website, the Welcoming Schools Program (WSP) is dedicated to "Creating Safe and Welcoming Schools for All Children & Families." The group explains its efforts are supported by "providing training and resources to elementary school educators to welcome diverse families, create LGBTQ and gender inclusive schools, prevent bias-based bullying, and support transgender and non-binary students."

Many of these so-called 'anti-bullying' efforts are in reality attempts to normalize alternative sexual lifestyles, and the promotion of such sinful lifestyles constitutes child abuse.

The WSP's recommended reading lists for elementary school children include:

According to the Capital Research Center's Information Watch website, the Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRCF) is a nonprofit group with assets exceeding $29.7 million and close to $15 million in 2016 revenues. HRCF is affiliated with the Alliance for Justice, a left-of-center coalition with more than 100 members, including George Soros' Open Society Foundations and the Ford Foundation.

Information Watch notes about the Alliance for Justice: "The most notable aspect of the organization is the Judicial Selection Project, which tracks potential judicial nominees. The project helps disseminate damaging information about conservative judicial nominees."

Church Militant has documented many examples of LGBTQ indoctrination efforts aimed at young children who attend reading events at public schools and libraries. Most recently, it reported the Houston Public Library attempted to host a children's reading event billed as Drag Queen Storytime.

The events are part of a series sponsored by the American Library Association to create "a more equitable, diverse, and inclusive society. This includes a commitment to combating marginalization and underrepresentation within the communities served by libraries through increased understanding of the effects of historical exclusion."

As reported by Church Militant here and here, many of these so-called "anti-bullying" efforts are in reality attempts to normalize alternative sexual lifestyles, and the promotion of such sinful lifestyles constitutes child abuse.

Church Militant emails to the NEA and phone calls to Ashlawn Schools were not returned by press time.
