WASHINGTON (ChurchMilitant.com) - Former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder is announcing President Barack Obama will soon re-emerge in politics.
Holder announced on February 28 that Obama will be fundraising and speaking for the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC), saying, "It's coming. He's coming, and he's ready to roll." He also noted that Obama "will be a more visible part of the effort."
The organization is one of several Democrat efforts to shift things back in their favor for upcoming presidential elections after losing its grip on the executive and legislative branches.
The NDRC's purpose is to redraw U.S. legislative districts, claiming the way districts are currently delineated is unfair and disproportionately favors Republicans. Holder claims the system is "rigged."
The organization maintains it "is building a targeted, state-by-state strategy that ensures Democrats can fight back and produce fairer maps in the 2021 redistricting process." This group also claims, "The most important turning point for the future of the Democratic Party will take place in 2021, when states redraw their congressional and state legislative lines."
Normally when a U.S. president retires, he is virtually silent on the policies of the man proceeding him, but this doesn't seem to be the case with Obama.
On the same day, President Donald Trump revealed he believes Obama may be behind information leaks within his administration, commenting "his people are certainly behind it." He further said, "And some of the leaks possibly come from that group, which are really serious because they are very bad in terms of national security. But I also understand that is politics. In terms of him being behind things, that's politics. And it will probably continue."
In 2014, former President George W. Bush made a comment when asked about then-president Obama's policies, "I don't think it's good for the country to have a former president undermine a current president."
However, on February 27 he joined in with Obama against Trump, criticizing the way Trump was handling the press, "We need an independent media to hold people like me to account. Power can be very addictive, and it can be corrosive."
Holder, a very close friend of the Obamas, has also been hired by the state of California to head up future lawsuits against Trump and his administration.
Obama and his wife, Michelle, also recently scored individual book deals with Penguin Random House, which together will bring in over $60 million — with $15 million being the highest amount paid to a president, namely Bill Clinton. They maintain a "significant portion" of the money will be donated to charity, namely, to their newly founded Obama Foundation.
