AUSTIN, Texas (ChurchMilitant.com) - Texas governor Greg Abbott is banning vaccine passports in his state.

In an executive order signed Monday, Abbott, a Catholic, prohibited private businesses from requesting or requiring proof of so-called vaccination.

"No entity in Texas can compel receipt of a COVID-19 vaccine by any individual, including an employee or a consumer, who objects to such vaccination for any reason of personal conscience, based on a religious belief, or for medical reasons, including prior recovery from COVID-19," reads the order. "I hereby suspend all relevant statutes to the extent necessary to enforce this prohibition."

In April, Abbott signed an executive order barring state or state-funded entities from requiring vaccine passports. Another executive order, signed in June, banned private businesses from requiring vaxports of their customers. This week's order expands those provisions, protecting employees from jab mandates and fining any entity demanding evidence of vax status.

Abbott signed an executive order barring state or state-funded entities from requiring vaccine passports.

Abbott's latest is a direct effort to resist fake Catholic Joe Biden's aggressive weaponization of the Labor Department to enforce vax mandates on any and all businesses across the country. Abbott made his intent clear, writing, "[I]n yet another instance of federal overreach, the Biden Administration is now bullying many private entities into imposing COVID-19 vaccine mandates, causing workforce disruptions that threaten Texas's continued recovery from the COVID-19 disaster."

News Report: More Diktats Coming?

Biden is authorizing the Occupational Safety and Health Administration to fine most organizations for employing unvaccinated persons, affecting over 80 million private-sector employees. Abbott is also using fines, leveling a $1,000 penalty any time a vaxport is requested or required. Even further, he is promising to cut government contracts or funding if noncompliance continues — even threatening to refuse a business the right to operate in the state if the orders are persistently disregarded.

Abbott is one of a growing number of state leaders opposing Biden's ruthless overreach. Arizona's governor, Doug Ducey, also a Catholic, wrote, "President Biden's dictatorial approach is wrong, un-American and will do far more harm than good. ... These mandates are outrageous. They will never stand up in court. We must and will push back."

Mississippi's pro-life governor Tate Reeves likewise stated, "[T]his unconstitutional move is terrifying. This is still America, and we still believe in freedom from tyrants."

Florida's governor Ron DeSantis — yet another Catholic — has matched Abbott's efforts to combat China-virus tyranny. DeSantis banned mask mandates, banned jab mandates, banned vaxports, and (like Abbott) has measures in place to fine any entity demanding proof of vaccination status.

Dr. Joseph Ladapo

Last month, the Florida leader tapped Harvard-trained Dr. Joseph Ladapo as both surgeon general and health department secretary. Ladapo strongly opposes vaccine mandates, telling a journalist, "Vaccines are up to the person; there's nothing special about them compared to any other preventive measure."

Even RINOs who typically compromise have openly opposed the Biden administration, including South Dakota's Kristi Noem and Georgia's Brian Kemp.

Abbott added his executive order to the current state legislative agenda, clearly aiming to sign it into law. State-level lawmakers have largely supported Abbott in his previous endeavors, passing both an executive order to curb vaccine mandates and passing the pro-life Heartbeat Act. Abbott's latest effort likewise has a strong chance of success.
