NEW YORK (ChurchMilitant.com) - The top killer of babies has developed parenting materials a number of top doctors are calling abusive and harmful.
Planned Parenthood has developed a parenting resource section [caution graphic language] on their website that is now hoping to influence parents of three and four-year olds to develop an understanding that "their body is theirs alone" and that "your genitals don't make you a boy or a girl."
Michelle Cretella, president of the American College of Pediatricians (ACP), disagrees, telling Church Militant "gender identity is malleable, especially in young children." An ACP article asserts, "Facts — not ideology — determine reality," explaining "98 percent of gender-confused boys and 88 percent of gender-confused girls eventually accept their biological sex after naturally passing through puberty."
"Conditioning children into believing a lifetime of chemical and surgical impersonation of the opposite sex is normal and healthful is child abuse," Cretella asserts.
Planned Parenthood also states, "Trying to steer your kid toward a more typical gender expression if that's not their instinct does more harm than good." It also claims, "Over time, LGBTQ children who aren't supported by their parents tend to take greater risks with their health and suffer from mental health conditions at higher rates than children of supportive parents."
In an interview with Walt Heyer, a former transgendered person who has written several books and runs SexChangeRegret.com, he told Church Militant that transgenderism has been studied since the early 1900s, and suicide rates for patients have been relatively constant at 40 percent for the past 100 years even with all of the affirmation and rights given to them today.
He says that as many as 60–70 percent of transgenders also suffer comorbid disorders that aren't addressed by "cosmetic surgery." Heyer says strong feelings of transitioning in children and even adults should be left alone, saying they will "grow out of it."
The abortion giant's website also recommends using the anatomically correct and explicit language to teach little children about their bodies so they are not ashamed or embarrassed. The books they recommend for parents are too graphic to be used in schools. It also suggests that you talk with your children when they watch television shows with sexual activity, LGBT issues and pregnancy.
In 1995, the Pontifical Council on the Family, under Pope St. John Paul II, published "The Truth and Meaning of Human Sexuality" that addresses modern concepts in sexual education. In sections 78–86, it affirms the parents' duty to preserve the innocence of their children that are younger than puberty, explaining that children "cannot understand and control sexual imagery within the proper context of moral principles and, for this reason, they cannot integrate premature sexual information with moral responsibility."
It goes on to warn, "Such information tends to shatter their emotional and educational development and to disturb the natural serenity of this period of life."
It further counsels parents to refuse "any attempts to violate children's innocence" due to the detriment to the "spiritual, moral and emotional development of growing persons who have a right to their innocence."
Planned Parenthood also recommends parents "address sex and masturbation in a way that's positive (or neutral)" with their preschoolers, even discussing the various reasons why people have sex.
The Vatican disagrees stating, "It should not be considered repressive to correct such habits gently that could become sinful later, and, when necessary, to teach modesty as the child grows."
Planned Parenthood also promotes promiscuity to toddlers, stating "but it's okay and even good for kids to understand that grownups have sex for other reasons too, like for pleasure and to express love and feel closer to a partner."
Section II of "Truth and Meaning" defines true love as a giving of self. It goes on to explain that true love is not possible if one is enslaved by their passions, saying, "Chastity is the spiritual power which frees love from selfishness and aggression."
Planned Parenthood receives roughly $550 million from the federal government every year that the abortion provider uses to provide sexual education materials to parents, schools and teens. These materials created with taxpayer money contradict medical and theological experts' opinions on the best practices in human sexuality.
