TYLER, Texas (ChurchMilitant.com) - Pro-life bishop Joseph Strickland is condemning the so-called vaccine's unethical connection to abortion and urging others to do the same.

Bp. Joseph Strickland on The Bishop Strickland Show

In Thursday's episode of The Bishop Strickland Show, the shepherd of Tyler, Texas denounced vaccine mandates and the use of aborted fetus stem cells in medicine manufacturing, sharing he himself continues to reject the jab on moral grounds.

"You don't need to be coerced or 'mandated' into doing something that goes against your conscience," Strickland emphasized. "And frankly, I refuse to be. They can do whatever they decide in regard to my life with the mandates, but I'm not going to take a vaccine that I believe is wrong."

The bishop's chief objection to the controversial jab is the use of aborted babies' stem cells in the research and testing phases of the two major U.S. vaccines — the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. He insisted Catholics reject abortion-tainted drugs, noting, "There's been very little noise about demanding ... that Big Pharma provide ethically produced vaccines." He dismissed the much-touted argument regarding the "remote" relation of abortion to the jab, arguing no Catholic should be comfortable with the murder of a baby and the repeated use of that child's corpse for science experiments. Affirming that Catholics are free to choose to take a vaccine, he proclaimed, "We've just got to wake up to the sanctity of life."

Beyond his own criticisms of the shot, Bp. Strickland raised objections to vaccine mandates. His primary emphasis was the preservation of conscientious integrity and free will. In December 2020, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith clarified that "vaccination is not, as a rule, a moral obligation," resolving that "therefore, it must be voluntary."

The Texas bishop not only reiterated this line of reasoning, but took it a step further, proclaiming, "God-given free will is connected to God-given life. We're created in the image and likeness of God, and free will — the ability to make our choices, guided by, hopefully, a well-formed conscience — is part of being the children of God, part of being human."

Strickland's statement was made only hours before fake Catholic Joe Biden imposed sweeping vaccine and mask mandates Thursday night. The move has been strongly criticized by red-state governors, but most bishops have kept mum. Biden has gone largely unchecked by U.S. prelates, almost all of whom encourage voluntary inoculation, and some of whom even encourage mandatory inoculation.

The bishop's chief objection to the controversial jab is the use of aborted babies' stem cells in the vaccines.

Chicago's Cdl. Blase Cupich is particularly pro-jab. The high-ranking cleric continued to promote the Johnson & Johnson shot after other bishops condemned it for using aborted fetal cells in the production of the drug itself (as opposed to simply in the testing process, like with other vaccines). Cupich also mandated the so-called vaccine for priests in his archdiocese and forbade those same priests from signing religious exemption requests for the laity. Other bishops — most notably, San Diego's Bp. Robert McElroy, New York's Cdl. Timothy Dolan, Philadelphia's Abp. Nelson Perez and the U.S. bishops' conference president Abp. José Gómez of Los Angeles — have also instructed their priests not to sign religious exemptions for vaccine mandates.

The National Catholic Bioethics Center — comprised of clerics, laymen, lawyers and doctors — denounced vaccine mandates, stating, "Individuals must discern whether to be vaccinated or not in conscience and without coercion."

It remains to be seen how or if America's bishops will respond to fake Catholic Biden's medical overreach.
