WASHINGTON ( - On Tuesday, House Democrats lost a vote in their attempt to end the congressional investigation into Planned Parenthood's traffic in aborted babies' body parts.

In late April, 98 Democrats in Congress signed a letter addressed to Speaker of the House Paul Ryan and Rep. Marsha Blackburn, who heads the U.S. House Select Panel on Infant Lives investigating Planned Parenthood, demanding that it be dismantled.

And Tuesday, abortion supporter Rep. Betty McCollum proposed an amendment to dissolve the panel. Representative Andy Harris, a pro-life doctor who serves on both the Appropriations Committee and the Select Panel, spoke against the proposed dissolution.

A vote was taken, and Democrats lost 20–28.

The investigation into Planned Parenthood and the fetal parts industry began after David Daleiden and the Center for Medical Progress released several videos starting in the summer of 2015 revealing the abortion giant profiting off aborted baby parts.

The letter to Speaker Ryan made the accusation against pro-life lawmakers that their investigations "endanger health care providers and patients with its extreme rhetoric claiming that Planned Parenthood is selling baby parts."

Calling the request for specific names a witch hunt, it continued, "We are particularly concerned by the recent reports that the select panel had issued 11 subpoenas to medical supply companies and laboratories that will seek the names of researchers, graduate students, laboratory technicians, and administrative personnel involved with fetal tissue research."

The Democrats also blamed the lawmakers on the investigation committee for making research to cure diseases much more difficult. "[O]n behalf of the millions of Americans who are waiting for the cures to Parkinson's, Multiple Sclerosis, and the many other diseases awaiting a cure, we feel compelled to condemn these dangerous tactics."

News of the Democrats' attempts to dissolve the House panel follows documents released in mid-April confirming that Planned Parenthood's harvesting of aborted babies' organs and limbs results in "pure profit" for the abortion giant, contrary to its claims denying this fact.

David Daleiden released a statement following the revelation saying that Planned Parenthood and all partners of the organization must "face justice."

The facts are now undeniable that Planned Parenthood had no 'costs' to 'reimburse' and every dollar they received for little baby hearts, brains, and livers netted illegal profit. Planned Parenthood lied to the media, to Congress, and to the American people for 9 months falsely asserting they had no financial benefit from supplying baby parts.
