Democrats in Congress are protecting infanticide and pushing the most radical abortion laws in history. President Donald Trump and pro-lifers are saying it will cost Democrats the presidential election in 2020.
Senate Dems last Monday defeated the advancement of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, and a similar measure was derailed in the House of Representatives on Thursday. Mallory Quigley, the spokeswoman for Susan B. Anthony List, a national anti-abortion group, is pushing back.
"There need to be political consequences for the extremism of the other side," Quigley said. "Now we have people on record, including a handful of people who are running for our nation's highest office."
Father Frank Pavone, national director of Priests for Life, is saying lawmakers voting for infanticide must be held accountable. The voting record of congressmen will be publicized, vowed Pavone in a statement on Feb. 25.
Quoting Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell Pavone affirmed the pro-life measure recently defeated in the Senate, "merely recognizes that a newborn baby is a newborn baby, no matter what the circumstances were of his or her birth." He continued, "This is infanticide. The only thing Americans can do to protect these most vulnerable babies is to vote out of office those who fail to protect them."
Pavone added, "Priests for Life and other pro-life groups will expose the voting record of every member of the Senate on this bill and will make it a major election issue. Get involved now in Elections 2020 at www.ProLifeVote.com."
At his State of the Union Address on Feb. 5, Trump made an impassioned plea for Congress to pass measures protecting the unborn as he summed up recent attacks by Democrats on babies.
There could be no greater contrast to the beautiful image of a mother holding her infant child than the chilling displays our nation saw in recent days. Lawmakers in New York cheered with delight upon the passage of legislation that would allow a baby to be ripped from the mother's womb moments before birth. These are living, feeling, beautiful babies who will never get the chance to share their love and dreams with the world. And then, we had the case of the governor of Virginia where he basically stated he would execute a baby after birth. To defend the dignity of every person, I am asking the Congress to pass legislation to prohibit the late-term abortion of children who can feel pain in the mother's womb.
