Democrats are pushing hard for President Trump to immediately leave office, even though he only has a week left in his term. They're asking Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove him — but that's unlikely after the two cordially met on Monday.
House Speaker Pelosi indicated she'll rush forward with impeachment if Pence doesn't cooperate. And it's not only Democrats who favor impeachment — a few establishment Republicans do as well. With eight days left in Trump's term, why is there such urgency? It raises questions.
Pelosi claims the president is dangerous and incapable of finishing his term. She also believes Trump needs to pay for inciting protesters on Capitol Hill to violence last week. But did he?
Trump never told the crowd to break the law, riot or destroy anything. What he did do was make the case for why half the country believes the election was fraudulent. What he did tell the crowd was simply to protest outside the Capitol to make their voices heard. Could there be other reasons for the urgency to sack Trump with a week to go?
As big tech moves quickly to quash the voice of Trump and his followers, the Democratic Party would love to cancel the MAGA movement permanently. Many would also like to ensure that Trump doesn't run again in 2024. And, maybe, Democrats are hiding something they fear could come out between now and Jan. 20.
Two laptop computers were stolen from the Capitol building — one from Pelosi's office. Could there be something on those computers that motivates their urgency? Or do they fear Trump may unveil something under the radar that may be damaging to the Democrats?
Chances are, Donald Trump will serve out his term, and, justly or unjustly, Joe Biden will be sworn in on Jan. 20. However, between now and then, there could be a January surprise in store for us for the first time in history.
