The archdiocese of St. Louis is taking up a special collection this weekend for a hospital that refers parents for abortion.

Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital is the only freestanding Catholic children's hospital in the United States.

Its Knights of Columbus Developmental Center claims to be devoted to families with developmentally disabled children.

But one Knight of Columbus, pro-life activist John Ryan, knows better.

He has evidence Cardinal Glennon referred parents to an Illinois abortion mill across the river from St. Louis.

Standing on the sidewalk in front of Hope Clinic for Women, Ryan and another pro-life volunteer asked a couple what hospital referred them for abortion.

John Ryan: "Where did you go? Where'd they tell you ... See if you can get them to tell you."

Nurse: "Where did you go? What hospital?"

Parent: "Cardinal Glennon."

Nurse: "Cardinal Glennon?"

John Ryan: "They sent you here?"

This incident took place in 2015, but Ryan has more recent evidence that he's tried to share with hospital officials.

Credo of the Catholic Laity, an organization that promotes orthodoxy, alerted its base to the hospital's betrayal, urging members to boycott the special collection.

Earlier this week, Abp. [Mitchell] Rozanski sent an email to pastors, pressing them to support the collection for the hospital foundation, which he chairs.
