Saint Thomas More's Purse (or "STMP") is a nonprofit based in Alaska's archdiocese of Anchorage-Juneau. The group's secretary-treasurer and Church Militant's Resistance captain, Jody Rossing, explains the STMP's mission.

Rossing: "Primarily, we offer funds for people who need to hire a canon lawyer. We will be extending our services to help educate people as far as why you would need a canon lawyer. Most people don't even know that it's our right and that we can use that."

Priests and laity have little money to fight these legal battles — with some lawyers charging hundreds of dollars per hour. The Alaskan nonprofit helps bear the financial burden.

If a priest cannot hire a canon lawyer, he has no defense against unjust persecution by a corrupt hierarchy. Likewise, the laity cannot freely exercise certain rights as Catholics — rights like receiving Holy Communion on the tongue.

Rossing: "The thing that my son said is — he's a brilliant kid — he said if we want the Church restored, act like it already happened."

Although it's very new, STMP is proving to be a strong resource for Catholics in the fight for orthodoxy.
