God taught man in the Old Testament about the horror of sin by mandating that it be remedied by bloody sacrifice. This was a preparation for the New Testament in which Christ, the Lamb of God, would be sacrificed on the Cross for the sins of mankind.
In 1 Peter 1:18, St. Peter affirms, "[Y]ou were not redeemed with corruptible things ... but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb unspotted and undefiled." In Hebrew 9:22, St. Paul says, "[W]ithout shedding of blood, there is no remission."
In the fourth season of Church Militant's Premium show The One True Faith Revisited—Breaking of the Bread, Michael Voris explains the connection between sin and sacrifice: "What sin has ripped apart and seemingly utterly destroyed, Our Blessed Lord can put back together; but He puts it back together in His Own Flesh."
Watch the panel discuss the connection between sin and sacrifice in Friday's Download—The One True Faith: Breaking of the Bread. This week's topics on The Download include attacks on Humanae Vitae and papal scandal, among others.
