Why do so-called "cafeteria Catholics" say love is everything and then pick and choose which teachings of Christ they will follow?

Christ gave us His commandments that He summed up in Matthew 22:38–40 as love of God and love of neighbor. He also equated following His commandments with love of Him when, in John 14:15, He said, "If you love me, keep my commandments."

His apostle St. John called out such cafeteria Christians, who say they love God but deliberately choose not to live some of Christ's commandments. Concerning such protestantized Catholics, the Evangelist in 1 John 2:4 warns, "He who says that he knows Him, and keeps not His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him."

Watch the panel discuss Catholics who decide what teachings of Christ to follow in Friday's Download—The One True Faith Revisited: Cafeteria Catholics. This week's topics on The Download include unnatural death and the Virgin of Revelation, among others.
