PHOENIX (Churchmilitant.com) - Jon Root, a former contributor to Turning Point USA, is no longer employed by the so-called conservative organization. His departure comes just four days after he urged Christians to boycott the television show The Chosen for defending the presence of a gay pride flag on set.

On May 29, Root exposed the so-called Christian television series and pressed the show for an explanation.

"Just like with our hundreds of cast and crew who have different beliefs (or no belief at all) than we do, we will work with anyone on our show who helps us portray or honor the authentic Jesus," read part of the official response to the controversy.

Immediately after the interaction, The Daily Wire, a self-proclaimed conservative news organization, published an article entitled "'The Chosen' Defends Pride Flag Seen On Set: 'Let The Show Speak For Itself.'" The article, which highlighted the Roots' revelations as well as theological criticisms of the show, caused a stir among the leadership of The Daily Wire. The cofounder and co-CEO of The Daily Wire, Jeremy Boreing, tweeted, "This is a disgusting article, and I'm sorry we published it."

In addition to eliciting thousands of responses from conservatives and Christians, Root's initial findings led to additional revelations.

After revealing the "Christian" show's defense of the gay pride flag, Root urged Christians to boycott the series, which prompted prominent cast members to express their feelings on the matter.

Root described pride, homosexuality and gender ideology as 'anti-Christ ideologies.'

Giavani Cairo, the cast member who portrays Thaddeus, stated, "Anyone who is going to go at one of our family members for something like this, is no fan of ours. ... We stand with our brother." He was referring to the show's cameraman, Daniel Fritz, the pride flag's owner.

Fritz, as Root also revealed, is a longtime employee and a homosexual cross-dresser. Another actor, George Xanthis, who portrays the Apostle John, backed Cairo's defense of the homosexual and cross-dressing Fritz.

Jordan Ross, who portrays the Apostle James the Lesser, responded to Root's call to boycott by writing, "I am so proud of the love and acceptance displayed on our set every day."

A few days later, on June 1, the actor who portrays Judas, Luke Dimyan, responded to Root's call to boycott by declaring, "Indeed, best of luck with that. Happy Pride Month, everybody! #loveislove."

Dallas Jenkins, the show's producer, eventually responded to the controversy by also defending the gay pride flag

Root was simultaneously criticizing the show for its acceptance of LGBT ideology and the Los Angeles Dodgers for promoting the same agenda. In accordance with fundamental Christian doctrine, Root described pride, homosexuality and gender ideology as "anti-Christ ideologies" rooted in "sexual depraved godlessness."

Shortly after making these statements, he tweeted, "I am no longer employed by @TPUSA."

When asked about homosexuality in 2019, TPUSA's leader, Charlie Kirk, a self-described Christian, responded, "I don't care what two consenting adults do."

Kirk made these remarks on stage alongside Rob Smith, a self-identified gay conservative. After Kirk's response, Smith interjected, declaring that he is a "gay Christian." Kirk applauded.

Root will be at a prayer rally on June 16, protesting the LA Dodgers' sacrilegious endorsement of "drag nuns." And, although he's no longer employed by TPUSA, he says he's "looking forward to what God has planned for me next."
