Catholic bishops here in the United States cite COVID as their reason for the total shutdown of U.S. Masses in 2020. But a new story reveals some of those same bishops — via Catholic Charities — are OK with helping the unelected Biden administration dump more than 7,000 COVID-positive immigrants into a Texas border town.
Isn't there supposed to be a deadly pandemic going on? Aren't we supposed to be concerned about spreading COVID? If so, then why this gross hypocrisy from Catholic bishops?
Maybe because the Catholic bishops receive loads of money from the federal government for immigration-related activities, and the average Catholic is a horrible tither.
The COVID scare supposedly concerns the bishops to such an extent the chancellor of the archdiocese of New York, John Cahill, recently banned priests in the diocese from issuing religious exemptions for conscientious pro-life Catholics: "Any individual is free to exercise discretion on getting the vaccine based upon his ... own beliefs without seeking the inaccurate portrayal of Church instructions. Our priests should not be active participants to such actions."
And yet when the Catholic governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, tries to minimize the spread of COVID via an executive order targeting the transportation of COVID-positive immigrants, Texas bishop Daniel Flores decries racial profiling.

These political pimps of the Holy Eucharist (who, ironically, tell us not to politicize the Eucharist) will dangle the Sacred Body of Our Lord over the Rio Grande during their border Masses and withhold that same Sacred Body from spiritually starving Catholics in the name of COVID.
Denying or withholding citizenship from immigrants is most certainly Catholic political policy, as St. Thomas Aquinas recounts: "Foreigners not yet having the common good firmly at heart might attempt something hurtful to the people."
Like many of the illegal immigrants they welcome, Catholic bishops also lack a heart for the American political common good. And their religious zeal shutting down sacramental access and access to Mass shows they also lack a heart for our spiritual good.
This leads one to ponder: If the bishops are withholding the sacraments necessary for our eternal citizenship in Heaven and are actively undermining our national citizenship here on earth — exactly what good are they doing?
