WASHINGTON (ChurchMilitant.com) - President Trump is doubling down on his commitment to protect the unborn.

In a letter to the pro-life community released Thursday, the president pledged to fully defund Planned Parenthood in his next term. Backing up his promise, he referred to his administration's pro-life accomplishments over the past four years.

Buttressing his pledge to block off all funds to the abortion giant, Trump promised to "continue appointing judges who respect the constitutional right to life" and "pass & sign Pain-Capable 5-month abortion ban."

The president noted what together he and other pro-lifers accomplished "for unborn children and their mothers" during his first term in office, namely:

  • transforming the federal judiciary in a more pro-life direction
  • protecting the unborn around the world by blocking American tax dollars to organizations that promote abortion internationally
  • ending taxpayer funding of abortion providers, such as Planned Parenthood, that refuse to separate abortion services from family planning
  • fighting for the conscience protections of Americans, including health care providers and the Little Sisters of the Poor
  • working to end taxpayer funding of research that uses the body parts of aborted babies
  • joining with the thousands of Americans who gathered to celebrate life at the Washington, D.C. March for Life in January.

Trump contrasted his position with that of the Dems. "The Democratic Party unequivocally supports abortion on demand, up until the moment of birth, and even infanticide — leaving babies to die after failed abortions," the president wrote.

Democrat politicians refuse to protect innocent life, and then they lecture us about morality and saving America's soul.

He zeroed in on Biden's "embrace of this extreme position" seen in "his support for taxpayer funding of abortion on demand" and choosing abortion radical Kamala Harris as his running mate.

Trump's pledge corroborated the pro-life message in his acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention while slamming the Dems' deathly position.

"Democrat politicians refuse to protect innocent life, and then they lecture us about morality and saving America's soul," the president said. "Tonight, we proudly declare that all children, born and unborn, have a God-given right to life."

Pro-lifers applauded Trump's pledge.

Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser, who serves as national co-chair of Pro-Life Voices for Trump alongside Christina Bennett, praised the letter and President Trump's leadership. "President Trump has become the most pro-life president our nation has ever seen," she declared.

His letter, she said, is "further proof of pro-life momentum heading into this pivotal election, following the most explicitly pro-life Republican convention ever — in stark contrast to the Democrats, who were too afraid to even utter the word 'abortion.'"

Dannenfelser took the opportunity to slam the Democrat presidential candidates. "Joe Biden and Kamala Harris' support for abortion on demand, paid for by taxpayers, is extreme, immoral and will prove to be a loser at the ballot box," she added.

Danielle D'Souza Gill, a Women for Trump Advisory Board member, tweeted that Trump's promise to defund Planned Parenthood "has the double benefit of saving lives while undermining a deeply racist organization that targets minorities."

Catharine O'Neill, Executive Director, Catholics for Trump, tweeted: "THANK YOU, Mr. President, for your unwavering defense of life!"

Trump asked in his letter for the help of the pro-life community in defeating Joe Biden and his running mate, Kamala Harris.
