If you can't beat them, join them. President number 45 announced late yesterday he's launching his own social media platform. Church Militant's Kim Tisor takes a look at Trump's latest venture and how it may impact the political landscape.

Former President Donald Trump will release TRUTH Social early next year, and, according to the desk of Trump Media and Technology Group, it will rival Facebook and Twitter. Both banned then-President Trump following January's so-called riot on Capitol Hill.

Trump's release notes: "We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American president has been silenced."

Jon Fortt, technology journalist: "Big Tech is absolutely choking free speech. Social media platforms have become one of the most essential media for communication in the modern era."

As viewer trust in mainstream media dwindles, research shows one in five adults get their political news from social media, underscoring the need to preserve free speech in the digital universe. But viewers are even battling social media giants like Facebook.

Conservatives slammed Facebook over a recent report revealing its liberal CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, gave more than $400 million to nonprofits to influence 2020 elections.

Liz Peek, columnist at The Hill: "We all knew that they suppressed information ... but this really makes it very, very clear that these tech moguls really want to use their hundreds of billions of dollars, in some cases trillions of dollars, to really sway elections."

With Trump's TRUTH Social on the horizon, both lamestream media and leftist-driven social media platforms are put on notice. With the ability to put truth before American voters in 2024, "Number 45" may soon be remembered as "Number 47."

Trump also plans to launch a subscription video-on-demand service called TMTG+. It will feature non-woke entertainment programming, news, podcasts and more.
