The archdiocese of New York obstinately persists in holding its grip on the body of Abp. Fulton J. Sheen, even though it has no legal rights over it. Those rights belong to his closest living relative, his 88-year-old niece Joan Sheen Cunningham, who — refused by Cdl. Timothy Dolan when she asked to have her uncle's body moved to his hometown Peoria, Illinois — has had to have recourse to the courts in order to force the New York archdiocese to comply.
