DETROIT, August 26, 2015 (ChurchMilitant.com) - ChurchMilitant.com has confirmed that Philadelphia archbishop Charles Chaput has personal knowledge that the leadership team of the World Meeting of Families includes members who are pro-abortion and pro-same-sex "marriage."

This contradicts the most recent statement from the archdiocese, which falsely claims among other things: "Neither the World Meeting of Families—Philadelphia 2015 nor any of its leadership supports Planned Parenthood."

The archbishop approved this official statement with full knowledge of its falsity.

According to PhillyMag.com,

The World Meeting of Families leadership roster is packed full of members of the Philadelphia Democratic establishment, which generally runs pro-choice. Mayor Michael Nutter and Gov. Tom Wolf are both listed as honorary co-chairs. Other notable politicos include Comcast vice president David Cohen — a top fundraiser for President Obama — who is listed as a co-chair of the organization’s executive leadership cabinet, as is Comcast honcho Brian Roberts, who has given at least $76,000 to Democrats since 2006.

For instance, current Pennsylvania governor Tom Wolf is proudly hailed by Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards as "[the] first governor in the history of this country who is also a former Planned Parenthood escort." Wolf also appointed a Planned Parenthood executive to his transition team, and just last month appointed a former Planned Parenthood executive as his chief of staff.

ChurchMilitant.com has been in private communication with the highest levels of leadership in the Philadelphia archdiocese over the past 24 hours. We've expressed our deep concerns to Church officials about the news reports now circulating that the World Meeting of Families leadership team (including the president, Robert Ciarrufoli) is infested with pro-abortion, pro-gay "marriage" money men and politically influential people.

All of this information was made known to the archdiocese last week by the Lepanto Institute. But to date, high-ranking Church officials have rudely dismissed ChurchMilitant.com's concerns and questions, and have instead opted to issue a public statement attacking ChurchMilitant.com's motives and professionalism.

It's only a matter of time before this breaks out into major secular media outlets, causing further scandal. Faithful Catholics in Philadelphia are raising the question: Why would Abp. Chaput — a prelate known for his orthodox talk — allow a leadership team for the World Meeting of Families to be assembled containing pro-abortion, pro-same-sex "marriage" supporters? Why is the archdiocese denying this in the face of clearly documented proof?

Unimpeachable sources inform ChurchMilitant.com that Abp. Chaput considers this story "nonsense" and has said that he does not have to explain himself to faithful Catholic media outlets.

According to the World Meeting of Families website,

WMOF was conceived by Saint Pope John Paul II in 1992 to look at strengthening the sacred bonds of the family unit across the globe. The first WMOF took place in Rome in 1994, the International year of the family.

It is the height of irony that a Catholic event focused on aiding the family should be led by individuals who support causes wholly destructive to the family: abortion and same-sex "marriage" — and worse, that they do so with the full knowledge of Abp. Charles Chaput.

Stay tuned for continuing coverage of this developing story.
