Alexander Slavsky

A native of Farmington Hills, Michigan, he graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor Degree in Theology and Philosophy. His senior thesis was on John Paul the Great’s Theology of Redemptive Suffering.

His interests include moral and liturgical theology; he recently read Pope Benedict XVI's Summorum Pontificum on the use of the 1962 Roman Missal. Other topics of fascination include the intersection between faith and reason, the history of the rise of modernism and St. Pius X’s Pascendi Dominici Gregis, and influence of Catholic literature on prayer, virtues and the spiritual life, e.g., The Imitation of Christ and The Story of a Soul.

Alex is a proud Michigan native and can attest that he has been to Mackinaw Island almost a dozen times, probably for the fudge.

He benefits immensely from the rich devotional practices of the Faith and hopes to continue growing in his prayer life. In his free time, Alex enjoys watching old films on Turner Classic Television (TCM), practicing Gregorian Chant for Chant Schola at St. Joseph Oratory, exercising in preparation for eventually running a marathon, and socializing and debating theological topics while also enjoying food and drink.
