General Overview
(Itinerary subject to slight modifications)
Day 1 – Monday, October 2: Flight departs EWR at 6:05 p.m.
Enjoy an overnight flight with meals served aboard the aircraft.
Day 2 – Tuesday, October 3: Rome
On arrival at Fiumicino International Airport, Rome, the group will be transferred by deluxe motorcoach to the hotel. Group registration and reception will begin at 5 p.m. Dinner at 6 p.m. Overnight in Rome (all nights). (D)
Day 3 – Wednesday, October 4: Vatican
Breakfast at the hotel. The group will attend one of the highlights of the trip: the Papal Audience. After the audience enjoy a guided tour of the Vatican Museums, featuring a visit to the Sistine Chapel, with its beautiful artwork by Michelangelo. (B)
Day 4 – Thursday, October 5: Basilicas
After breakfast at the hotel enjoy a highlight of the trip: a visit to three of the four major basilicas of Rome, including St. John Lateran, St. Paul Outside the Walls and St. Mary Major (the fourth basilica being St. Peter’s). A visit also to the Church of St. Peter in Chains; see the famous artwork of Leonardo Da Vinci. Dinner at hotel. (B, D)
Day 5 – Friday, October 6: Christian Rome
The day will include a trip down the Appian Way as well as a visit to one of the early Christian Catacombs. Dinner on your own. (B)
Day 6 – Saturday, October 7: Ancient Rome
In the morning enjoy a tour of Rome; from the motor coach view some of the sites related to Ancient Rome, including the Forum, the Arch of Constantine and Capitoline Hill. Visit the Colosseum, and also see the Pantheon, the world-famous Spanish Steps, and one of Rome's great landmarks, the Trevi Fountain. Dinner at hotel. (B, D)
Day 7 – Sunday, October 8: Rome
Enjoy a day at leisure in Rome or take part in a walking tour in and around the Vatican area. On return to hotel your group will be taken to a local restaurant for a festive farewell dinner with music and wine, water or cola. (B, D)
Day 8 – Monday, October 9: Rome
After breakfast depart Fiumicino International Airport, Rome, for U.S.A. (B) Flight arrives EWR at 3:50 p.m.
