Ex-Priest Gets a Year, Victim Gets Life
While this is yet another of scores of articles I've written over the last 40 years about pedophile priests who have been convicted for their crimes in Michigan, this story actually contains the words of the victim. The occasion for this news report is the Nov. 8 sentencing of former Michigan priest Timothy Crowley, 74, for unfathomable sex crimes he committed against a minor at an Ann Arbor parish. He was sentenced to one year in prison, five years of probation and slapped with a multitude of restrictions on his behavior. Read more

Cameroonian Rapist Priest ‘Rehabilitated’
A ruling from the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith has placed a rapist priest back on the job in Africa, and canon law helped that to happen. On July 1, 2023, Fr. Hilary Ngome, who confessed to raping at least one 13-year-old girl, was fully returned to ministry by a Vatican decree, according to Bp. Michael Miabesue Bibi, prelate of the Buéa diocese in Cameroon. He announced the decree in a public letter dated Aug. 23, 2023. Read more
St. Paul’s ‘Environmentalism’ vs. Modern Environmentalism
As strange as it sounds, St. Paul had a sort of "environmental agenda" of his own, not altogether unlike the one we find posited in Laudato Si. In fact, Pope Francis crafted his encyclical "On Care for our Common Home" according to the framework Paul laid out in Romans 8. So however one comes down on alleged man-made climate change and other charged environmental issues, it must be conceded that Pope Francis and St. Paul agree that the reason creation is in a precarious state is that man, God's image-bearing representative, has rebelled against God.
