A ruling from the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith has placed a rapist priest back on the job in Africa, and canon law helped that to happen. On July 1, 2023, Fr. Hilary Ngome, who confessed to raping at least one 13-year-old girl, was fully returned to ministry by a Vatican decree, according to Bp. Michael Miabesue Bibi, prelate of the Buéa diocese in Cameroon. He announced the decree in a public letter dated Aug. 23, 2023. Read more
As strange as it sounds, St. Paul had a sort of "environmental agenda" of his own, not altogether unlike the one we find posited in Laudato Si. In fact, Pope Francis crafted his encyclical "On Care for our Common Home" according to the framework Paul laid out in Romans 8. So however one comes down on alleged man-made climate change and other charged environmental issues, it must be conceded that Pope Francis and St. Paul agree that the reason creation is in a precarious state is that man, God's image-bearing representative, has rebelled against God. Even in the face of leftist forces, over 100 faithful Catholics bear witness to Christ as they fight to protect the innocent unborn — this time by leaving their mark on our nation's capital. Many Catholics love St. Jude, the patron saint for lost causes. But few know that this apostle wrote a short letter that's in the New Testament, and even fewer know that he condemned sodomy. Read more

My sister and brother-in-law have a vacation home on the ocean just outside of Newport, Rhode Island. This is the kind of place where, from the moment you arrive, the outside world immediately takes a back seat. A unique hybrid somewhere between charming and enchanting. The natural beauty is only surpassed by the genuinely warm friends and family who regularly come and go. There are lifelong friends, neighbors, their children and now their children's children. It's just wonderful to visit them. And each time I leave, there is the familiar twinge of a soft melancholy. Read more
As our Church and State continue descending into chaos, demonic forces become more emboldened in their efforts to blaspheme and promote degeneracy. Thankfully, faithful Catholics in Indiana won't allow the satanic crusade to move forward unabated. On Thursday, Sept. 28, faithful Catholics gathered outside the Indianapolis Statehouse to offer prayers of reparation for the demonic activity taking place inside. Read more

As a Jew under Roman rule, St. Paul intuited that the font of true earthly unity isn't some man-made State, even one as grand as the Roman Empire. Rather he knew that the Catholic Church was the only institution that can serve this purpose. We Americans can learn much from Paul, because we ourselves tend to think of America as a vehicle for world unity and peace. Fr James Martin's recently published book, Come Forth — The Promise of Jesus's Greatest Miracle, is, at most, mediocre. To promote this book and himself, Martin not only promotes sodomy, but also pushes some ridiculous canards. For this reason, Fr. Kalchik gives this book a thumbs-down. Read more
The doctrine of justification has always hinged on the question of faith; that is, the question of belief, choice and salvation. This is why every debate among Christians — be it between Catholics and Protestants, Protestants and Protestants, or even Catholics and Catholics — has at its core the question, "How are we saved?" Of course, the answer is settled: For every man that has been saved or will be saved, it's their faith that grants them entrance into the Kingdom of God. Read more
A Catholic prelate is denouncing the notion that Pope Francis is not the valid pontiff of the Catholic Church. Would-be sedevacantists should take notice. Bishop Athanasius Schneider produced the latest anti-sedevacantist commentary in a Sept. 18 statement, aptly titled "About the Validity of the Pontificate of Pope Francis." Read more
Pope St. John Paul II once wrote that suffering is "almost inseparable from man's earthly existence," but the art of suffering well has been lost on modern man for decades. There are, luckily, three ways to learn how, and it will make you invincible. Suffering cannot be conquered without first learning to embrace it. Accepting suffering is recognizing that it is an opportunity for purgation and sanctification — and a chance to fulfill God's will. To do this requires a complete sense of humility, which means total submission to God's perfect will. Read more
