The controversial former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) is once again touting face masks as hospitalizations for a new COVID variant are reportedly on the rise. In a recent interview with CNN, Anthony Fauci expressed his fear that Americans will not mask up if a new strain of the virus — B286 — picks up steam. CNN host Michael Smerconish questioned Fauci about an extensive study showing face masks make no difference in the spread of the disease. Read more

Critics are wondering why the Centers for Disease Control is claiming it was not planning on reviving mask mandates, despite reports to the contrary. They are also asking why the CDC is no longer collecting data on adverse reactions to COVID-19 vaccinations. A CDC spokesman informed Newsweek on Thursday that, at present, there are no plans to reinstate mask mandates. However, the spokesman did not rule out the possibility if cases of the new variants increase. Read more

A jury handed guilty verdicts to five pro-lifers on Tuesday, charging them with blocking access to an abortion mill and conspiring to violate civil rights. Each defendant could face up to 11 years in prison. The jury deliberated for a day and a half before convicting each defendant of violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act in connection with a 2020 rescue mission at a late-term abortion mill in the U.S. capital. The FACE Act strictly prohibits individuals from attempting to injure, intimidate or obstruct (using force, threats of force or physical barriers) anyone seeking or performing an abortion. Read more

A notorious New Orleans priest removed from ministry recently admitted to reporters that he sexually abused male adolescents and added clergy sex abuse is no longer much of a problem in the Church.
